Today Iam Shocked & Saddened by the news of a fellow workers son's passing! Stephen would come in to my place of employment to have lunch with his father quite often! He was 40 yrs of age! Very nice young man! He would pick, tease and poke fun with all of us!
Iam beside myself with tears now because I can not believe that we will never see Stephen again.
Stephen has diabeties for years now! He was in denial about it for a fairly long time! But this past year, he finally realized, it could do alot of damage to him if he doesnt begin to take care!
Well Tuesday he had a Diabetic coma and has been in that state until early this morning! The doctors told his father Wednesday that his kidneys had shut down and there was no brain waves (movement) on the scans they took! My boss told me that they had spoke to his father and he made the tough decision to take off life support some time yesterday! He was by his side with other family members and Stephen died early this morning!
Iam so destraught over this death! I am taking it harder, because Stephen would always ask how my husband was doing! He knew how I loved my husband. Was always commenting on how lucky we were to have each other!
Im sorry my IHD family, but I just can't believe this young man is gone! My husband is pretty upset also, so would IHD please pray for us! Ive been knowing Stephen since 2003 when his father was hired by my employer! This is sooo hard and death does hurt deeply!
Thanks my dear friends at IHD. I love you all!

aww... you probably won't shake this for a long time. A few ago, one of our pool's teenaged father died suddenly like that to a degree. In his case he had the diabetes and drank alcohol. They kept telling him no. I think he went into an acidosis (?) coma and died. I am very sorry for this young man's family and friends, as yourself. Diabetes is definetly another illness that needs to get into the masses as far as education, treatment, and especially PREVENTION. For certain circumstances, a death can really over whelm us. Of course you'll be in the prayers from everyone here! Take a deep breath, go one day at a time. At least you have your husband to talk to in all this as he knew him too.-Carolyn

Just want to Thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. Latest on Stephens death is his body has been donated to science! The thing that saddens me the most is that this young man was "fit" and looked healthy as a lark! Now I did not know, that he had a 16 year old daughter! How awful this must have been for her! I have also found out that Stephen had a Drug problem in past, but hadnt been using for awhile!
His father, whom I spoke with yesterday, told me that He thinks that Stephen got back on needle dope and He believes he may have overdosed! Lot of questions here, but we may never know the truth about his Death, but Kidney failure is definately one of them, but the coma is either diabetic or drug induced!
All of that doesnt mount to a Hill of Beans to me, but the loss of a young life does!
Again, I sincerely thank you all for Prayers and condolences, they really meant a lot to me! :thx; :pray;

lmunchin, my sincerest condolences at this time of the loss of your friend. Death is never easy and it is a process that we must go through, when someone we care about - loves, dies. Just remember that your feelings are yours and remember your dear friend with those precious moments you had together---- roberta
