This is it! Today at 2:00 I get my pd cath installed. This is the day I was not looking forward to but I knew was in my future. No more procrastination, no more whining (I’ll still whine but it won’t do any good) ,no more swimming and no more denial.
Tbarrett: Thank you for the day by day updates on your new pd experience. You have inspired me and scared the hell out of me at the same time but at least I have an idea of what to expect in the next few days.
Thanks to all and I'll see some of you in Vegas.
Bill

Good luck, Bill, and I will indeed see you in Sin City.
:bestwishes;

There's nothing wrong with a good whine; I've made it into a fine art! You just come to IHD and whine all you want. We can take it. That's what we're here for. Leave your angst with us so that you can enjoy your "real life".
I know exactly what you are feeling today. Getting your access created, whether it's a fistula or a PD cath, is a truly enormous, tectonic step. I'm looking forward to hearing from you once it is all done and dusted.

This was my main goal........ I was on the fence about PD for over 6 months and I wished that someone had did a thread about their complete experience b/c I think i would have choose it sooner had I known more
you know what else I am going to do.......... When I searched on Youtube for videos on PD the only things that showed up were cyclers, (CCPD) so guess what?? you are going to see me on YouTube doing an excahnge :2thumbsup;
B/C again I really, really very badly wanted to see a video and read as much as I could prior to deciding on PD as my treatment option or not so I know that if I wanted it, someone else will too ;D

That's a GREAT idea!! It'll be good to see younger people doing dialysis too. Most of the stuff that I've seen involved people who were at least in their 50s. It made it seem that young people don't do dialysis, which isn't true, considering I started when I was 12, and I know others who started younger
-
Thinking of you to-day.You will be fine.
-
How did it go Bill? Thinking of you and hope all went well!
lmunchkin :kickstart;
P.S. "I'll pull clutch in and give you a loud Rev from my bike for a positive procedure"

Everything went very well. I was at the hospital by 12:00 and out by 5:00. The only issue I have is the pain in my right shoulder. It’s more of an ache than a pain. Could someone explain to me why this should hurt like it does???
Other than being uncomfortable get up from the couch or bed I don’t have any problems in the area where the catheter was placed and so far not having any problems sleeping. Have not needed the pain pills yet.
I went to the dialysis center on Thursday to get my cath flushed and was very pleased with how well everything worked. No problems and no pain up to this point. I sure hope it stays this way. My first impression of the center was a good one. This is the first time I have ever set foot inside a dialysis clinic.
I will start a new thread in the home dialysis area and post more updates as they happen.

I can't wait to hear your updates.... Bill just think you may not even know it yet, but your posts may help someone else :)
as for the shoulder pain.... very random, I did not have that issue, but I am sure that someone on here has or knows someone who has......
Good luck Bill and although it def sucks Welcome to Dialysis....... :welcomesign;

Bill, the shoulder pain is from gas. When they do the catheter surgery they inflate your peritoneum with gas to give them room to work in there. The pain is from leftover gas that migrated up to your shoulder.
I hope everything else is well.

Bill, have you settled on CAPD or CCPD? I agree with Tbarret, on the home D. It does give you more control over your health and the treatment thereof! This is a good modality, Bill, you will see! Just follow their training and you will do fine! Now when you get your first set of supply's, you are going to think, OMG what did I get into? But you will figure out over time that alot of that can be dewindled down!
I cant wait to read your experiences! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading T.Barretts. They have really helped people inquiring about PD!

YAY :flower;
I wish I knew how to post pics on here so I could post my set up..... HOD aka: Ron told me but I still don't understand it.... you do not need as big as space as I first thought so I really think showing my set up would help someone see that PD will not be laying around your house :2thumbsup;

I will probably do the machine since I am still working. Just started a new tread in home dialysis. I will be getting my supplies on 8/15, cleaned out the closet and some other areas in anticipation. Oh joy!

How did the delivery go? Was you surprised how much you received!!!!
-
Well, Billybags, we aint heard anything yet? You think he was shocked with first delivery? We remember those days, dont we? Come on Bill, give us the scoop!

Fortunately I was somewhat prepared by reading a lot of post about the amount of supplies.
I did get one large pallet of stuff but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I had spent the weekend clearing out the closet of excess clothes and found I had plenty of room for the supplies.
So far everything is good to go.

Yes I did start another thread: http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=24059.0
But don’t expect as much entertainment from mine as Tbarrett’s. She is a much more prolific writer and definantly more entertaining than I am :thumbup;

I don't know about that, Bill!!!! You got a MEAN & CLEAN supply room. Don't know if she can beat that! Lol :rofl;

Holy Crud :o I had no idea that the PD supplies were ample enough to be delivered on a pallet! Is that ONE month's supply? I can now see why some people say they don't have room for the supplies to do PD... I am glad your surgery went well :)
