Title: hemoglobin drop
Post by: boswife on July 08, 2011, 04:44:24 PM
Hubby (bo)'s hemoglobin went from 10.4 to 9.6.  It seems that since they have had us give him venofer (iron) infusions, his hemoglobin has gone down instead of up.  any ideas here?  They had also uped his procrit.  Thanks anyone.

Thanks for contact my sweet lil friend  :cuddle;  I just e'ed his neph and all seems ok so just going to watch .  He tests again in two weeks so we'll see then.  He said the uped procrit takes a couple weeks so we shall see.  Bo is doing amazing 'it seems' so im not worried. (yea, not worried,,,,, ME..lol )  He runs me into the ground though actually so im feeling 'ok' about it..lol  tuckers me out with his 'go' power.    :flower;

Yes, it is true that an increased dosage of Procrit takes a while to have a measureable effect.  As long as he is feeling good, I don't think you have too much to worry about.  Sometimes we forget to look past the numbers and just ask the patient how he's feeling.  Anyway, keep us posted.
