Today i was taking a shower and all of a sudden i was confused as to where i was??. I found myself walking right out of the shower and falling onto the floor. I am kind of freaking out as my wife is saying it is toxins in my body.
It was just a momentary thing and i just got up back into the shower and continued on and then went to work. On my drive in i guess i was reflecting back and i began to worry if i should have even been driving 60 miles to work. Anyways has this happened to anybody else here (not the shower thing) but a lapse in your surroundings
or just like confusion, i don't quite know how to explain it but it is really starting to bother me the more i think about it.. Is it toxins or just a brain fart of sorts...

It's happened to my hubby quite a few times over the last 2 years....didn't know what was causing it. He started dialysis about 2 months ago & he gets the same moments of confusion after dialysis sometimes still...I remember reading somewhere that the memory loss is not uncommon in some kidney patients. I'll see if I can find where I read it & get back with you on that. I'm sorry that you're going through this...it breaks my heart when I see my hubby with that same look of total confusion on his face only to snap out of it minutes later.

This can happen when you are not getting enouph dialysis. The toxins build up....Creatinine, BUN and others and you can get confusion. This is common for those who dialyze in-center. you are skipping a day between treatments and 2 days on the weekend. During this time, toxins accumulate and have this effect. In-center is like a roller coaster....your blood leves go up after you get off the machine and go down while you are on dialysis...It just repeats and repeats...... this is why home dialysis is much better for the body..there are no roller coaster rides. Since you dialyze every day, no peaks and valleys but rather a line that is much more steady.
Its a shame that more nephrologists/centers do not even offer home dialysis as an option ( even thought they are obligated to by law) It is often the patient that is the one that starts the process of home dialysis....
