Got a flyer from Dairy Delicious the other day and says they have their cheddar cheese sauce out. $9.95, includes shipping, for (trial pack) 6-2 oz containers with a carton of the DD milk.
Regular price it said was 19.95 +7.95 shipping for 18-2oz containers plus a carton of the DD milk.
Anyway thought I would order the trial pack and try the cheese first.
Anyone else gonna give it a try?

My dietician told me it was similiar to Velveeta. I'll probably order the sample pack.

I was thinking about ordering some of the milk until I saw the prices. I wasn't about to spend half my weekly food budget on teensy little servings of milk - not without tasting it first. Has anyone tried this stuff? Is it worth spending that much? So far, my potassium and phos are okay, so I'm sticking with my one cup of 2% every morning. If my numbers get bad, I may have to do more though.
My college dorm cafeteria only offered whole milk. I used to fill half the glass, then mix it with half water. I may start doing that again.

Ya the milk it real pricey. Case (just over a gallon) of it is over $40 with shipping to get to where I live. If I need milk I will stick to reg. milk for that price. ;D
To me the milk tasted similar to powered milk that had been reconstituted.

I ordered the trial pack also, sure hope it is true to it's advertising! Looking forward to a few nachos, yum! ( mac'n' cheese too!)

When i got the milk samples i was too afraid to drink them just like that so i cooked with them, never knew the difference, but someone, anyone, tell me what you think of that cheese, i sure hope its good :P

You can get these products at some stores. I see that Wegman's carries them so if you live in Western New Yorrk you can check it out. Hopefully I can get on small container and give it a try without investing in the shipping and handling racket.

Got the cheese sauce a couple of says ago.
It does have a different taste to it IMO. I suppose I would be my choice for cheese if my PO4 was out of control or if I had trouble controlling it.

The milk just had an odd after taste, and it really wasn't that low in P04. About 1/2 the P04. I'd rather have a sip of real milk then waste it on the fake crap.

Especially for the price of it and forbid what they want to ship it out our way. :o

My dietitian just gave me some slips for free samples of the milk. I'm not sure I'm going to bother - there's no way I'd ever pay that much for it. I think I'm with rerun on this anyhow - I'd rather have just a little bit of the real thing than something that tastes funny. I never drink more than a tiny cup of it anyhow - otherwise I'd be getting too much fluid.

Just got my cheese sauce a couple of days ago and already made broccoli-cheese soup~ Yum! It is a pretty decent substitute; the real test will come when I fix my nachos!!! I think the milk is okay if it is icy cold.

I've tried the milk and the cheese sauce. I can see where rerun's coming from ... I certainly feel that way about butter vs. some kind of spread. But I think the milk is pretty good. It is real milk ... and doesn't have the off flavor that Coffee Rich or CoffeeMate have when you use them on cereal. It saved cereal for me.
The cheese sauce is good for mac and cheese, and I bet it's good on nachos. Heck, I've even just spread it on toast so it's like a pseudo grilled cheese. (Pathetic, I know!) It's also good mixed in with a scrambled egg, diced onion and green pepper, for a sort of Western omelet thing.
I've been a little disappointed with the cheese sauce in recipes though. It's flavor is so mild, it sort of gets lost. I've tried it in a broccoli rice casserole and in a potato (well-dialyzed) soup. I put in two little tubs, and still it wasn't cheesy enough for me. How much did you use in the broccoli soup???
-
I used three little tubs and yes, it was mild, but since I have stayed away from it a while it tasted great...
