Has anyone ever had a good nights sleep doing dialysis. I wake up after a few hours sleep every night then toss and turn. Then I fall back asleep and wake up feeling the worse for it. I am not sure if it is from meds or just the fact my blood is screwed up. I don't want to start taking sleeping pills cause they tend to really drag me down. Just wondering how many people have problems with sleeping since ESRD.

Likely the majority of us dont sleep so well.

Ugh!! When I was on dialysis sleep never came. And sleep was my hobby. Since I got my transplant....I sleep very well.
No sleep can drive you crazy.
I totally felt Heath Ledger's pain. I guess he had major trouble sleeping. I read somewhere that the people close to him said All he wanted to do was be able to sleep and couldn't do it.

Disrupted sleep is common with kidney failure. My neph prescribed Trazodone at bedtime to help me sleep.
It's important to stay awake during the dialysis session. If you take a nap during dialysis, it will be that much harder to sleep that night.

Since starting dialysis I've had trouble sleeping, but my doctor put me on ambien. It keeps me asleep but I have wierd dreams and it still takes me a long time to fall asleep, but its a relief not constantly waking up.

I find it impossible to sleep in dialysis. I am in the early shift and I am needle up at about 5 thirty in the clinic. Everyone else falls asleep and I never heard of anyone not being allowed to sleep. I fell asleep once at dialysis and dreamed I was falling out a window and started screaming. Ther staff ran over and wondered what had happen. I was alittle embarrassed and have been afraid to nod off in fears of pulling out the connections.
