I haven't gone through his experience, but in my opinion he's doing remarkably well. Open heart bypass surgery isn't simple, but it's not the scary overly dramatic thing that David Letterman, Regis, and Barbara Walters make it out to be. It's basically, according to several surgeons I've talked to, a plumbing job. Hope your friend continues to progress.

Hi, Noah!

Your friend sounds like he takes his health seriously and works hard at maintaining it.

I agree with Bill. Your friend is recuperating very well. Having said that, the body needs time to heal from any surgery. Time and rest. Your friend may not be used to having to "pamper" himself based on his active participation in his health. And starting dialysis can be hard on the psyche, too.

I hope he continues to improve and dialysis helps him feel better, not worse.
