Well, I have done it! I have made twelve years on hemodialysis! It was November 2nd this year. Whoo whee what a ride it has been!

Doesnt time fly ! Well the bit that's not on dialysis !
-
12 years - wow, that is a long time. I've just passed 6 months on PD and that is hardly worth noting. Stay well, Kitkatz!
-
I'm nearing 6 and a half years, this time.. I don't wish to be on as long as 12 years...
-
Good to hear, are you doing well and if so have there been any complications along your journey???. I am not on "D" yet but it will not mbe long and you being on it for 12 years is really good news to hear.
-
:beer1; You're one tough cookie! Love you Kitkatz!
-
next year you'll be a teenager - imagine the mischief you'll get up to!!!! :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
Seriously though this is amazing and gives all of us still on D the understanding that we can keep doing it and live a life and keep going even when sometimes it all seems too hard. You and Zach amongst others are the real cheerleaders for longer term dialysis, and I take my hat off to you!!
:bow; :bow; :bow; :bow; :bow; :bow; :bow; :bow;

I am not on D yet, but do hope I can make it for 12 years, wow, I would be pretty old by then, LOL. You are one tough cookie Kit, Congratulations, and I hope you have another 12 and then some.

In reading this thread over again, I realized that my post may have seemed a bit insensitive.
Kitkatz, I think it's awesome that you've made it 12 years. It's rather inspirational to the rest of us. I just have a hard time with these kinds of anniversaries, because I find them a little depressing. I hope you didn't think my post was in any way demeaning to your milestone
-
Well Done. :shy;
At 66 and not a good candidate for a transplant I hope to emulate you!
-

Given that the first two years are the hardest, passing the first six months is definitely worth noting.
-
I am so happy for you. This is quite a milestone. I hope you have many more successful years ahead.

In February, it'll be 20 years since I was diagnosed. 20 years ago, I didn't think I'd be where I am at this point in my life, but then, I was only 12 years old.. What did I know? *L*
