Title: sinus headaches
Post by: sullidog on November 01, 2010, 03:22:13 PM
Recently I've been getting these bad sinous headaches radiating from my left eye and consentrated all on the left side. I get a few while off the machine, but as soon as I get on the machine I get them the most. You can guarantee that I will get one on dialysis day. It's so bad that tylenol doesn't work all that well. I did have a cold when all of this started but it has cleared out of my head and I just have a cough left. I will see my neph friday but was wondering if anyone had any ideas? Is it safe to take tylenol even though I don't have a headache before dialysis?

I believe that Tylenol is relatively safe, except in large doses.

But that won't fix your sinus problems.  Believe me, you shouldn't let that go; it can turn into chronic sinusitis, which can be pretty annoying.

Question:  Is your cough productive?  If so, what color is the sputum?   (Discolored sputum usually indicates infection.)

Try nasal irrigation; it can relieve your symptoms better than Tylenol, and it's safer.  You can find out a lot about nasal irrigation on the Internet.

Try using a neti pot a couple of times a day to clean out your nasal passages.  I have a lot of problems with my sinuses (I almost always get a sinus infection when I have a cold) and I find this works really well.  Just have tissues close by for a while after when the water starts to run out of your nose!!
