I dont want this to be in the PD section as its not for Pd patients , but for people who have done pd and are now on hemo. Have any of you had any problems with where you pd cath exit site used to be ? Every now and again after all this time 12mths+ i still get a sharp pain even a stinging pain where my pd cath was. It doesnt last a great deal of time, but when my cath was taken out the hole wasnt stitched it was packed with a dressing made of seaweed and left to heal from the inside out naturally and it took a few months ! I always thought it was strange ! but every now and again i get a sharp twinge or stinging just in that area !

I had some twingy pains, but they went away. I figured it was because I had peritonitis, and I was in a great deal of pain at the time. I don't remember having any problems with exit sites from other catheters, as I've had 4 all together, not including the temporary one that I had in the very beginning, just to get dialysis started. I still have a huge scar from that one, and it was done nearly 20 years ago.

Any kind of scar can have weird twinges like that from damaged nerves. I used to have those from my first big surgery scar. I don't get that from my old exit site, even though I have a good bit of hard scar tissue around it.

:2thumbsup; thanks guys !

Gregory says "It gets itchy sometimes. That's about it."

Kickstart — It seems to me from your posts that you have the ability to attract incompetence. Maybe a surgical instrument was inadvertently left in your body...
Just a thought. ;D

Luckily no surgical instruments are used in removing pd caths ..er only something to snip the stitches , its more a lot of pulling and tugging to get that bugger out !
