There's a new KICKSTART about !!!! and all thanks to one nurse! . Well yesterday was D day and as usual i was dreading it ! I went in and the nurse had managed to find out that it WAS possible to set the machine to HD ! So i said ok lets give it a go ...WOW what a difference , a totally different session altogether ! I CAME OFF SMILING ! :bandance; :cheer: :bandance; :cheer: Ok so i came off with some pain over my eye but im know thats the lights in there, but how i felt must be how you guys feel. Its amazing what a simple change has done...Hey RM i even got my BVM down to 84 !!!! with no adverse effects! Im still in shock at how good i feel ! I slept a whole 10 hours last night , got up and felt like a new person ! That nurse is going to get a big thankyou card from me next week , but wouldnt you think my neph would have come up with this ? I am really :pray; it wasnt a one off , but i cant see it. Hopefully this will now be of help to anyone else that this happens to , finally an answer why ! Im just so happy i dont know what to say ! :2thumbsup;
MM Im probably not very good at describing the difference between HD & HDF but this is how the nurse described it ; HDF is the latest treatment and throughout D she said it blast the toxins out of your bloodstream , then sucks them up. With HD its a gentler treatment that doesnt blast them out . So who says progress is the way forward !

wow! nice to hear this news! :clap; honestly...whenever i read kiskstart's thread, it somewhat make me anxious about my mom's condition specially once she starts dialysis.

Oh RickyG, that is just the most fab news! I have been sooooo worried about you. I KNEW there was something afoot; I KNEW there was an explanation for what was going wrong, you just had to discover it. And your explanation re HD v HDF sounds reasonable to me. Oh, this really is the most wonderful news, it's just fantastic. I really really hope this signals the end of all of your difficulties. I know you've been to hell, but now you've come back, and I am most eager to hear how your next several treatments go. Be sure to tell us, OK? I'll be looking for your posts in this thread!

Day 2 of my 2 day break and im usually dragging myself breathless round the house or sat on the sofa ..NOT today ! Ive done more housework this morning than i get done in a week ! The weather is great so ive been out in the garden this morning , just sat enjoying it with a cup of tea ! Ive been sleeping for 8-10 hours which for me is unheard of! I cant begin to think that a different type of dialysis could make such a difference on so many levels! (maybe this is all a dream? ) My dogs think im the best thing since sliced bread and just keep bringing balls for me to throw. I pray that this good feeling remains with me (i wont overdo it !) and thanks to all those who encouraged me to carry on, i hope i can do the same for someone else. All know you have done your good deed for the day/week/year !!! Lots of Love KS x

Awww, that's fabulous Kickie. I really hope your next session goes as well as the last (if not better).
(Do you have enough energy to pop down to mine and get my housework done? Bring the dogs; they can chase my cats round the garden!)
