I have to have my catheter repositioned and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this procedure and can give me any info on it. I'm told they put a wire through the catheter and move it to a better spot. Mine is up to high so I can't drain properply. Also, does anyone on pd still work full time? I plan to return to work in Jan. though everyone I've spoken to on either hemo or pd said that they were unable to work full time after starting dialysis. I'm on pd and do my treatment overinght.

I am on HD and work fulltime as a special ed teacher. Do what you are able to do.

Gina, I am on Baxter PD also, but my catheter has repositioned itself a few times, thankfully no intervention was necessary. I work as full time as I want

Joe's on hemo and works full time, but it is getting more and more difficult - he's been on hemo for 11 months now.

Hi Gina, there is no reason not to work full time. I work full time and so do many others.

Hi Gina
I am on PD with a Baxter machine and I still work full time. My company works a flex time arrangement so I can start work anytime between 8 and 10am so I don't have to go to bet at a ridiculously early hour in order to get to work in time.

Gina, I just started PD about a week and a half ago, but I work full time. I'm switching to the cycler at the end of this month, then it should be easier. Right now, I leave work at lunch time and come home to do an exchange. I won't have to do that anymore when I start on the cycler. I'm going to keep working as long as I can. I think it's good for me to keep working, I feel more like my life is normal, and that's important to me.

Hey Gina. Sorry I never had mine repositioned, but I have heard of ppl having it done and there was no problems. As for working, I would love to work as I am on the cycler at night so my day is free, I have other reasons why I am currently not working, but I would recommend working if you can... it's a definate plus in keeping your life feeling as normal as possible. :thumbup;

Boxman, Is it getting harder? Are you on a cycler or CAPD? At my dialysis clinic they keep telling me it will get better, and that I'll feel better and better as they get my med's regulated. Do you think that's true?

Hey Gina, I think being on CCPD, (the cycler) is probably the easiest way to hold a full time job cuz you have your days free. Good luck and keep us posted on how your doing ok. We are always here for you :grouphug;

Mallory-I dont know if I'm on a cycler I guess I should find out I show up MWF and they hook me up for 3-1/2 hours then I go home. I think the long days are the culprit for always being tired

Sounds like your on hemo to me.

I agree, it sounds like hemo to me. Gina, I've now been on dialysis for just over a month. I started CAPD on December 7th, and got a cycler on December 26th. It's slow, but I do think I'm feeling a little better each day. I still work about 50 hours a week, but I did struggle the first weeks when I was on CAPD and I had to have an exchange in the middle of the day.
