SALISBURY TWP., Pa. -- There's a woman at Lehigh Valley Hospital who is alive and kicking well past the predictions of her doctors.
Gloria Estelle Reyes has no kidneys. And yet, she's still going.
The 29-year-old woman suffered from pre-eclampsia when she gave birth to her son, who is now 13.
Since then, the condition wore down her kidneys. In 2004, she had them removed.
In fact, Gloria has endured 47 surgeries.
She said her doctors can't explain why she's been able to hang on for so long.
"My doctors tell me if you were 70 years would probably would have been dead with all those operations," said Reyes. "He goes, you should not be alive. He says, you're either a strong person or someone's got something for you."
Gloria goes through three dialysis sessions each week.
And she has been on a kidney transplant waiting list for nine years.
Gloria said she could have given up long ago, but her son has inspired her to keep fighting.
