Title: Weird Questions
Post by: Riki on July 25, 2010, 11:09:59 PM
My brother asked me an odd question yesterday.  We were walking to the pool at the campground where he and his girlfriend and the kids are staying for the summer, and we were joking about whether or not the pool had the stuff that makes the water turn blue when you pee in it, like in the movie Grown Ups.  He said no, he'd already tested it *L*  I kinda laughed and said that I didn't need to worry about that, because I don't pee.  He kind of nodded, then looked at me and said, "where does it go?"  So I asked, "where does what go?"  He said, "the pee."  I said, "I don't make any."  He said, "but you drink, right?"  I said, "yeah."  He asked again, "so, where does it go?"  I just shook my head.

That's almost as bad as the little girl asking where the purple in the grape juice went when she peed.

urm it goes in the dialysis machine which sucks it out.. though technically even that is wrong I guess. Given you don't create urine because the kidneys are not doing their job, then you don't have any urine in your system, thus your original answer that you don't make any is the most accurate. Yep, you drink, and since the fluid doesn't come out via urine, it comes out via dialysis and about 500ml/day comes out naturally through sweat.

Instead of the fluid being extracted by the kidneys in the form of pee, the fluid gets deposited in the body tissues making them swell... and then dialysis takes that out again...?

Uhh.. we'd have to sneak into the campground... but it's doable... *LOL*

I just thought it funny, after all the years I've been on dialysis, I thought he might have picked up a thing or two.. guess I was wrong.. *LOL*
