You know there is so many weight loss programs, and they all have online support groups, and really nifty charts and graphs, automated daily food planners, weekly menus done for you and so on and so on... AN example of this is Weight Watchers, or The South Beach Diet and the daily meal planner and weekly menus are made to follow that specific diet.. do you wouldnt see something like potato chips on it, or mashed potatoes on the south beach diet menu. Ya following me? K..
I am wondering if there is any kind of online diet's out there where you tell the system what you need to be eatings, i.e your potassium limits, phosphorus limits, protein, sodium.,.. and so on... and it makes your menu based off that information just like it makes the menu for the south beach diet based on the information inputted into their system to say what you can and cannot have. Make any sense? I know we can look up each food item ourself online, and figure out a menu.. and la ti da... but this is somethng that I thought would be a good idea so people on dialysis who want to lose weight, it would be nice tohave a menu made for you and neat graphs to track your progress and food journals and so on...
Does anything like that exist out there now? Or we stuck doing it ourself and cant use the nifty stuff others on special diets do? So many are on dialysis and the renal diet... you would think someone would make something like that. :twocents;

Did you check out the link that Big Sky posted in the top 10 list post? That one looks like it would do all that.
Here's the link again.
http://dietpower.com/
There's a free trial you can use.
I haven't tried it - I don't do well with preprinted menus - but that's just my own personal hang up, related to the troubles I had on one as a kid. If they work for you, check out some of Big Sky's posts about this one.

I downloaded that... I havent installed it yet to try it. I thought it was just something to keep a food journal and such.
I don't like pre-printed menus much either, but the fact that so many people are on dialysis it would be a nice thing to have available, because of convience.
I guess I shall install that program and see what it does. :P

There is a really great group you can join called SparkPeople. It lets you track anything. I used to belong when I was losing weight, but stopped after weight loss gave up its place to dealing with dialysis. But the group is great - very similar to IHD in terms of support and caring.

The dietpower program will not figure out your diet but it lets you put in the the allocation amounts of potassium etc etc.
As you put in the exact amounts of food you eat it keeps a running total of the percentage of the allocated amounts you put in. After closing the food add menu click on the little pie chart and it will show these totals to what one has eaten so far.
