So, Mike might have diabetes. Apparently he has alot of sugar in his urine.. they are still doing tests.
What are the chances of that? That a kidney failure patient can develop diabetes?
:waiting;

In my case, Lady, I am a diabetic who developed kidney disease. I don't know about the reverse.
-
I know that some transplant patients develop diabetes after transplant, though I forget why... again this doesn't answer the question...
Modifying post:
Gregory says, a lot of people he knew got diabetes, he didn't, he was lucky. Both while they were on dialysis, and after transplant.
Modified post again:
I found the thing I heard about diabetes and transplant: transplant recipients can develop insulin-dependent diabetes from the steroids used for anti-rejection? But when the steroids are reduced, the diabetes can reverse...?
-
Cyclosporine can also induce diabetes as I understand it.
-
I developed diabetes after my transplant, it was induced by the steroid I was put on, Prednisone. It was thought that if I could be weened off it eventually my diabetes would resolve but my Endocrinologist said that it was very unlikely. I've been diabetic and insulin dependent for so long now, plus I don't think I'll ever come off the Prednisone.

Well, Mike hasn't had a transplant, and hes been on PD for a year.. He doesn't have any of the normal diabetes symptoms, except for sugar in his urine.
