B.C. MLA recovering from kidney transplant
By: The Canadian Press

A B.C. politician and her husband are both recovering from surgery after participating in a living donor kidney exchange.
Kootenay-West New Democrat MLA Katrine Conroy donated a kidney in the six-person domino procedure about 10 days ago.
She underwent the surgery so her husband Ed Conroy, a former NDP MLA, could receive a much-needed kidney following two earlier liver transplants.
Katrine Conroy had her surgery in Ontario and a spokesperson for her office says the MLA could return to B.C. by the end of the week and may be able to resume her political duties by the second week of June.
Conroy had hoped to donate directly to her husband, but when she wasn't a match the domino transplant was arranged through the living donor paired exchange registry launched last year by Canadian Blood Services.
Ed Conroy received his new kidney in B.C. and is recovering in a Vancouver hospital.
