I'm having issues with my new graft already! They've been using it for two weeks now and today they had to switch to the catheter again because while the graft had a good thrill when the tech put the needle in it would not flow until she pushed down on it, then it would flow nicely but as soon as she quit pushing down on my graft it would stop. The charge nurse came over to look at it and he said it looks like blood was leaking from the graft and onto the tissue around it. I have a good thrill and bruit but I just don't understand why all the sudden it won't flow when a needle is placed. He says if it does this on Monday and still looks like it's bleeding internally he will call the vascular surgeon. My question is is this normal for a new graft to do this? We waited about a month to use it for the first time. Now for a fistula of course it's too soon but a graft it shouldn't be. Any thoughts?

I hate access problems. I hope yours will be better on Monday.

It's still swollen, see neph tomorrow which my neph seems to know lot about accesses so will have him look at it.
It's still purring and swishing nicely though.
