I have been getting conflicting opinions about the use of Soy Milk products fot the
pre-dialysis patient. Do you know of any brand that is low in phosphorus which might
be OK for the renal diet ??
I really miss having ice cream - tried the products made with rice milk and did not
care for them. :thx;

I know this is very late in replying, but have you tried Zach's whey protein ice cream?

Some soy milk are not very high in phosphorus just by the washing process of the soy protein isolate, about 100 mg phosphorus in one cup, so you may be safe. Watch for other additives though, such as too much calcium.

An oldie that needs another look at.
Have posted my feelings regards soy on my blog.
For starters:
It can’t be said often enough: Soy is not health food. For more eye-opening details about soy, you can read “The Ploy of Soy” at the Weston A. Price web site:

If any further interest, do a search on my blog site, using the term soy.

Being an ice cream lover myself, I too have gone on the search for something :Ice Creamy". Try Philly Swirl, Wal mart carries it. It is not an ice cream substitute, but an acceptable substitute. Of course, I passed it under my dieticians nose and it got approved. It's worth a shot.

I can vouch for Philly Swirl being an acceptable "ice cream" substitute in a pinch.
