Title: peritonitis..... Hanging over your head
Post by: Brightsky69 on April 16, 2010, 11:30:00 AM
UGH!!!  Anytime I get some strange stomach pain I think it's peritonitis. Like today i got a weird burning feeling in my stomach. Like heart burn. It only lasted like 2 seconds.
I've been on PD for a little over a year. My stomach doesn't normally bother me. My monthy is getting ready to start so I am hoping that's where the funny (on/off)crampy feeling is coming from.

You know, I've never really thought about that.  I had a hysterectomy in 08 so can sail past the feminine hygiene aisle at Walgreen's, but what is it like to be on PD AND have that monthly bloat?  Do you feel like a weeble?

Well....I'll be 41 June 1 of this year. So my periods are getting pretty light. I don't really notice any monthly bloat. I can't tell the difference between monthly bloat and extra fluid from drinking too much. :P
Who knows I could be pre menopausal.  ::)

I haven't had a period for a year now, but when I did, (I'm on PD too) I thought I had peritonitis every month! I did feel huge, bloaty and thought I was holding fluid and kept having pain but turned out it was just Mother nature!

My period stopped 2 years before I started PD.  I was on PD for 1 1/2 yrs still no period.  Now I'm 1yr. post transplant and still no period.

You will definitely know if you have Peritonitis.  Believe me....you will know.  It happened to me.  I was feeling fine one morning and 5 hours later, I was in sooooo much pain.  Just hit me like a brick.  I was in the hospital for 4 days.  Cause of the Peritonits------Constipation.

Helloo,
peritonitous I know, last 3 months I had 4 bouts with this damned thing, I'm now in constant fear of every little upset, I am retaining water and I do now what you women go
through, I think I carried twins the last time....lol
My pertonitous is caused by a infection and now taking anti-bacterial med through the twin bag system, Im tired and very messed up, near the end of the rope, I'm glad that this is
here for my ranting..... :P    wolfken

Oh my, i am with you!!  Every time it's around the time for my period and i start feeling weird I worry that it's either peritonitus or i'm pregant (both awful things :P) So far so good but I don't know if that worry will ever go away...

I made a black and white sign to put between my drain bags. That way i know for sure if it looks cloudy. If I can't read the sign really clearly.
