One hour into my session and it felt like one of the needles had went through my fistula, however it turned out that I had a vein "blow out" higher up my arm. Arm turned black and started growing in size, packed it in ice they had to stop my session. Yes it hurts!

Oh jeez...What causes something like that to happen?
-
Oh Chief...sounds horrible. I hope it gets better real quick!
Hubby has a baby fistula, has not matured enough to use it yet. Hope this is not something that happens often.
-
Oh, OUCH that must have hurt. Has any one told you yet what caused it and or if it will happen again?
-
So, did your fistula infiltrate? That means, the needle slips out of the fistula and starts pumping blood in your arm. And then it gets bruised and a hard lump. That's what it sounds like, and it can happen kinda alot when the fistula is new. Mine infiltrated the first time they used two needles, and alot more after that.
If it did infiltrate, I'm sorry! That sucks, I know it does.

This happen about 2 inches up the arm from the nearest needle, they explained it as a vein that attaches to the upper part of the fistula broke because of the pressure. I had a needle infiltrate two months ago, this feels and looks like the same thing but a little bigger.
-
Oh! Okay, I was kinda confused. Thanks for clearing it up. Does that happen alot? I've never heard of that happening. Again, I'm sorry that happened! Sounds painful!
-
Nasty bit of business! Hope it doesn't happen again. :grouphug;
-
Sorry this happened Chief. Hope it heals quick.
-
I'm sorry that happened to you! Hope your arm heals quickly:)
-
I'm sorry that happened to you. I never heard of that happening before.
Hope there are no lasting bad effects.
-
Some of my patients have had this happen. I suggest using Arnica gel on it for the bruising.

Oh that sounds painful. I'm so sorry that it happened to you. Makes me even more nervous to start using mine (fistula is 5 weeks old now). Hope you feel better soon.
