I am not the type of person to sit around feeling sorry for myself. But lately all I want to do is cry. :'( This weepy person is not me!! yes I'm taking all my meds. :2thumbsup; Haven't had a chance to talk to the neph yet. Next week he'll be at the center. And I know we go through these stages. and I'm probably in the "grieving stage" but knowing this is not helping me. And the problems with my fistula isn't helping either. :banghead; I think I need a hug. Why is it that when they pull more fluid off you the more and harder the cramps are? My kidneys still produce some urine. So some times I pee more than others and it affects how much they have to pull to get to dry weight. Not only do I have muscle cramps, but my B/P bottoms out so they end up putting back some of the fluid they just pulled off and I'm having cramps because of :stressed; Does this make any sense at all? ???

I am sending you lots of hugs, you poor thing. My husband was only on hemo for 4 months and then he went back on to CAPD so I can not help much. We are having problems with that, it is not easy is it. They sound as though they haven't got your dry weight right. Ask to see the neph the next time you are at the unit. There are loads more people on here that will give you better advice. All I can say is try to keep smiling they will sort you out, well eventually. :grouphug; :grouphug;

Sounds like you need lots of hugs :grouphug; :grouphug; and no wonder you feel like crying if you're having technical difficulties with the fistula and cramps in addition to all the adjustment o being on D.
If you're cramping and crashing (bp going low) then they're pulling too much fluid off and they need to work harder to establish a more accurate dry weight. The dryer they make you, the harder you'll cramp and it's awful to go through. Those cramps used to make me cry too.
I hope you can get them to pay attention to your dry weight issue. It is tricky, I know from experience, but it will help ever so much if you can just NOT cramp and very low bp can make you feel all sweaty and nauseous and horrible. :grouphug; :cuddle; :grouphug;

Aw Mamanana, it's ok to cry. You've been through so much and it sounds like it just keeps coming. Just don't forget all those wonderful reasons you have to be happy too. I'm sending you a big cyberhug :grouphug; and hoping things look brighter for you today.

Since you are still peeing it makes since to me to leave a little fluid on you. You will feel better a little wet. As time progresses and you stop peeing than you want all the fluid off so you can drink more. But, for now ask then (no, tell them) you don't want to be so dry.
Tip for cramping: Quinine helps with cramping because it is a muscle relaxer. They use to give us dialysis patients Quinine Tablets for cramping but now they can't for some FDA regulation. But, if you buy tonic water at the grocery store it contains Quinine. Take a couple of gulps before dialysis and pour some in a small bottle to take with you. Tonic water also contains potassium so don't drink it all the time. Just before dialysis.

I'M A 60 YEAR OLD COP FOR ABOUT 40 YEARS NOW,AND i CRY,WHAT YOUR GOING THROUGH I THINK IS NORMAL AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN ON DIALYSIS A WHILE. I WORK THE METAL DETECTOR IN MY HOME TOWN AND I GET A LOT OF HUGS BY CAREING CUSTOMERS. I'M VERY LUCKEY IN SOME SMALL TOWNS EVERY ONE IS IN IT WITH YOU. I MADE THE NURSE QUIT PULLING SO MUCH OUT TRY TO GET TO MY DRY WEIGHT. IT USUALLY HAPPENS ABOUT THE LAST 1/2 HOUR OF TORCHER. LET THE PEOPLE KNOW YOU ARE IN CHARGE, YOU MAY HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY DAY. GOOD LUCK AND KEEP UP THE FAITH THATS ALL YOU HAVE TO GET YOU THROUGH.

Thank you for all your input. It helps to talk. I'm so glad I found IHD

With dehydration ( while they're pulling the fluid off) things like your sodium,potassuim, and minerals can all be effected. A depletion of these can cause cramping.

mamanan62 - I am in the same boat with you. I got my PD cath in a month ago. And just had my 3rd night on the machine. My Husband is a Boat Captain and has taken a leave of absence to take care of me. Which I am grateful for, but I have been a wreck. A crying, angry, soup sandwich of a Wife. He just came in from weeks out and was exhausted when came home. And then there was me, a sobbing mess. I hope it's normal and passes soon. Because I am not the weepy type either. I have a lot of pain on the machine and have a hard time sleeping. Mamanan, just wanted you to know I am with you and hate being a sobbing mess as well. Take care

Sounds like they are pulling to much fluid off of you, you should not be cramping that way. your dry weight will go up and down and it may change I would lay down the law pulling to much fluid can cause other problems such as stress on the heart and heart attack I know because it happened to me. you are in charge of your body so let them know this is causing pain and cramping and that you are aware that is NOT supposed to happen.
Sorry didn'y mean to preach but sometimes they people upset me they sometime appear to not understand and not know what they are doing even if they have been trained to help.
