Hello everyone i came across a fellow dialysis patient who has been taking Herbalife products and his kidneys have regenerated somewhat,He only goes to dialysis ONCE A WEEK NOW :flower;!!!we would'nt mind that would we???lolNow i',m also taking Herbalife products as they are all natural and you can feel it work. Not to be a promoter but this stuff works it gets rid of toxins, gives you lots of energy of course YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE DIET ALWAYS AND EXCERSICE.But i almost died a few months ago from being stubborn and not following the diet,my potassium was through the roof my heart was about to fail i almost became paralysed:{ and i could barely pee and do number2 but now a few months after and taking Herbalife i pee more and go to the bathroom adequately it's incredible everyone should give it a shot and since it's all natural there are no side effects. Not to be negative about doctors but if we stay sick they stay rich and also if we get cured they dont make money, its about the money SAD BUT TRUE.thats my word i hope EVERYONE CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS.
-
Hello fellow brtothers and sisters what does everyone think about Herbalife products???No chemicals no side effects all natural.
-
Hi nycrtst85,
I'd be careful about recommending products to regenerate kidneys. At first glance at the ingredients http://www.herbalifescience.com/quality/ingredients/ it looks as though some might not be good for dialysis patients.
-
You don't actually mention WHICH specific products you are recommending to use.
Also you claim your potassium went high because you didn't follow the diet - do you mean the renal diet or something else? If you just eat without thought then yeah, your potassium or phosphates or whatever will go through the roof - I think that has little to do with any natural products.
I also agree with Karol - some products taken without appropriate reasearch could be very bad for a renal patient - just because it's natural doesn't always mean it's good for those on dialysis (eg: bananas!!!).
Are you sure you don't know that cappuccino bloke who seems to have the "solution" to everything?

yeah i meant renal diet and yes not all of the products are good for renal patients like you're not going to take natural pills containing potassium it's common sense but some if you check the ingredients are very good of course one has to do research and check the ingredients on the products but some are very beneficial.it worked for me it's working for a lot of people.optimism is important too,i know people who have died because they don't want to be on dialysis for life.also try Bee Pollen.Kidneys do regenerate have Faith in God do your own research it's fun.try the book Natural Cures

I never take anything OTC without checking with the renal dietician first. A few years back I was taking fruit and vegetable supplements and had gone through a whole bottle before thinking to show it to the dietician. She nearly took my head off. She said the supplements had wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much vitamin A, and she specifically said, "Do you want to blow out what's left of your kidneys?" Lesson learned.
-
Sorry to me these types of things are a load of bs. The number of people who say bs
like just try this or that remedy and your kidney will grow back. I've had people actually argue
With me about it, like they a lay person who barely even know the function of a kidney
Know better than my team of specialists. I've even been told daily yoga will cure me!
My response to them is usually the same, so this crap can raise the dead can it? They always
Reply NO. well my condition is cortical neurosis, ie dead tissue. So unless it can cure deadness
I wouldnt bother.
Also I wouldn't recommend things like this to renal patients as there are lots of newbies
Desperate for a solution who may severely jeopordise their health following bunk
Homeopatetic remedies rather than their drs advice. So becareful about reccomendations
Of unproven remedies esp when the post reads so much like a paid add.

This post reminds me of that guy on youtube Tim Morrow, remember him?

I certainly wouldn't mess with it.

If it ducks like a quack. . .
We've got members on here who have recovered kidney function enough to stop dialysis, even if only temporarily. It's a wonderful thing when it happens, and we all celebrate with them, but it's rare, and not due to any miracle cures in mystery packaging, that's for sure.
-
FSGS=scarred kidneys. They don't regenerate regardless of how many Herbalife products you take. Please follow renal diet and your nephrologists instructions. We do celebrate when kidney function improves but that is not the norm. I do have a positive attitude but it does upset me when people think they can pray my kidneys to heal or tell me to just drink more water or take natural products. Sorry---this just hit a nerve.
-
Paris, i totally agree, i really hits a nerve. Cause you know that most people spruiking these homeopathetic remedies are full of it and don't know a thing about what we are going through, yet they try to make us feel dumb becuase we wont try their remedies. Had a neighbour tell me to try some stupid healing technique that her friend does (yeh you pay her over $200 to waive her hands above you, you don't even get a massage, just the hand waiving) kind of reminded me of one of those tv evangelists who shakes their hands and says i heal you. She wouldn't quit either so know i avoid her and ignore her, if she keeps it up i get down right rude and do the "so she can raise the dead can she?"

My dietician (whom I meet with once a month) has prescribed a number of nutritional supplements for me to take:
Dialyvite multivitamin
Selenium
Coenzyme Q-10
L-carnitine
Fish oil
Unlike the poster who mentioned Herbalife:
a) I'm taking all these supplements under the advice of a qualified dietitian who is familiar with renal disease and knows what dosages are appropriate;
b) my neph approves of all of them (I asked him); and
c) there is scientific evidence that all of these can have value as an adjunct to dialysis therapy
-
Please remember though that supliments or recomendations made for one renal patient may NOT be right for another one. Remember someone could be deficient or over in some particular thing like Potassium, or Calcium or something - the next person may not be - and some suppliments may not be appropriate in all cases. This is why you should ALWAYS check with your neph/dietician/renal team for what would be the best in your specific circumstance. Just because I'm taking something doesn't always mean you should too! :)
-
My doctor and dietitian do not recommend any supplemets other than what they would prescribe.

My doctor and dietitian do not recommend any supplemets other than what they would prescribe.
If your dr asks you to take them then they have taken into consideration possible side effects, compatibility for renal patients and possible interactions with your meds

My brother and sister inlaw got me involved in some kind od BS fruit juice. There was someone at the meeting who said he had cancer and the "juice" helped him with cancer. Everyone at the meeting was like "OH this will save your transplant" "You have to buy some"
So I said I would try a bottle. Turns out they signed me up for a mounthly shipment that would be about $200.00 a month. They were like a bunch of stepford wives.
Basically it was fruit juice and I was told only drink an 1 oz. a day. I was like if it's so great then why not drink a full glass a day. No one could answer that question.

Sounds like Noni Juice.
No hard scientific evidence for its efficacy.

I agree that not everyone is the same. I actually take potassium tablets and can have lots of bananas. :bandance;
-
Des, are you on PD? When PD was working i had the same issue, low potassium, PD flushes it out every time you do an exchange so you can get quite low
-
Des is just starting on hemo. Today is her first day in fact.
-
sorry, didnt mean to get peoples hopes up everyone has a different situation but it's really working for me and its no joke so much for the optimism.

When I'm not upholding the moniker (talker), title, I do at times enjoy looking at and doing (playing) at some statistics, in various fields of interests.
:shy;
Like Oprah inquires 'where are they now'! What further tales of hope, despair, disgust, frustration, love, would be unfolding!
Are the time periods since their 'last active' on-line, medical, lack of interest, family matters, physical. etc.!
Regardless, I also look at and read their profiles, and posts made by the person.
Why do I do this you ask.. ! Well, even I question it at times. But.............. ::)
