Title: have a situation similar to kickstart
Post by: sullidog on February 12, 2010, 07:12:09 PM
I have a situation similar to kickstart. There's a few techs in my center that like to pull fluid off of me even though I pea really well and never have had any swelling. In fact there's an order not to pull fluid off of me. There's only 1 nurse and 1 tech that follow that order but the rest of them like to pull fluid that's not there. I've told my doctor over and over and they keep reminding the center if I'm not swollen or until my uran decreases do not pull fluid. However, every once in a while they still do, or better yet, I'm toatlly blind so they like to tell me they aren't doing this or they aren't doing that and come to find out they really are. The FA even told me once she noticed swelling in my face, however my face did not feel swollen, I did tell her that she better not take fluid off and she's like we need to get you back to your dry weight which I do have a dry weight but it's always getting changed because of me still peaing good they really don't know where to put it. I just wish they would lift me having a dry weight for now and just clean my blood and follow the standing order that says no fluid, well there was one but I recently found out that that was lifted for some reason.

Oh, Troy, this is really disturbing to hear. It especially bothers me that they seem to be taking advantage of the fact that you are blind. If it were me, I would be done with trying to reason with them and start looking into legal options. There are organizations like dialysisethics.org that may be able to help you or point you in the right direction (Our member Plugger runs that site). I know there are also advocacy groups for the blind. I would contact these different organizations.

I'm sorry they are treating you this way. Good luck.

Troy, I sure hope things get better and quick.  It's hard enough to be the one in the chair without some uncooperative staff members giving you a hard time.   :Kit n Stik;
