Most of you know that I've had swelling issues over he past 3 years, but it is so weird now. Any fluid goes straight to my face. I look like I'm on 200mg of prednisone! Because of Superbowl I probably ate 1 too many pieces of pizza (2) and had a few too many sips of fluid. Monday I woke up and I was a mess. My face was swollen and it is all fluid. I may only put on 2 kilos but it just stores in my face. It use to be my left boob but it has moved. Then during 4 hours of dialysis it can only take off so much.
So today I needed to take off 3.5 kilos which includes the rinse back. I only got off 2.2 and my BP was low the whole time. My BP has been really low lately. I have stopped my BP meds.
Then my neighbor comes in and puts on 7 kilos over the weekend and she looks fine! Her ankles are puffy! BIG DEAL!
I look like a Cabbage Patch Old Doll! I never want to drink anything again.

Rerun, that is the pits. I dont know tho, I think I would rather have my face swell than only one boob!!!!!

I was a bit the same Rerun - except for whatever reason all my fluid always went straight to my lungs oooh errr. So the neph would be looking at my ankles (which are splenidily beautiful of course) saying 'hmmm, don't seem to carrying any fluid' and I'd be going - oh... really...but ...I ... can't....really ....breathe ... why...is...that? Grrrr. Sometimes we just had to explain again about the lungs. What a pain for you. Hope it improves.

Fluid is a funny thing, it finds all sorts of places to hide, any little pocket and its there. Around the heart, legs, any where. When my husband had fluid over load it went to his lungs and I never want to see him with that again, he could not breath, it was awful. Ask to speak to your neph on your next visit.

I don't want to talk to my Nephrologist. They rush me to get a fistulagram everytime I say something and there is nothing they can do. Even my vascular surgeon says he can not do anymore. I just really have to watch my fluid and keep down to my dry weight. I'm working on it.
I'm thirsty just talking about it. :stressed;

I have no advice or suggestions Rerun but I sympathize with the yuck and discomfort of extra fluid held in weird spots. Could it not at least go someplace that isn't quite so in your face as your face????? :Kit n Stik; that's for the fluid.... :flower; that's for you.

hi Rerun,my face swells too but not too much just enough for the nurses to notice.i try not to take in too much fluid.Please control your fluid intake be strong try,drinking only two cups everyday and your fluid will most likely decrease over time.dont go to places where you'll be tempted or you'll fall.Ask God for help Faithfully and He'll listen and help you.

I think you may have the same problem i have ! Firstly what program do you use on your machine? It sounds like you retain a lot of fluid in your tissues. I find while on dialysis the machine says i wont reach my goal as its taken all the fluid out of my blood . But i still have lots left in my tissues! If you have profile 3 try that , if not try knocking your UF off for 10 mins at a time to give the fluid a chance to pass from your tissues and into your blood stream , its worth a go !

Mine stayed away from my ankles and collected only in my fingers. I guess that worked out - eventually, my fingers would get so fat I couldn't hold the glass to drink anymore. .. :banghead;
Put a mirror by the sink - maybe seeing the puffy face will kill your thirst the way a "fat pic" on the fridge is supposed to kill your appetite!
