I appear to have an itch on and around my access. It seems to come and go. If I had to guess I'd say it's from the sites healing but I've not heard of this happening or seen any related posts on it on the internet. Anyone else have this issue that could shed some light on this problem? If it helps any I have a graft.

Could it be related to tape on your sites? The glue can really irritate.

Ive been having this issue since I started using my access, I have tried everything nothing seems to work if any ideas please let us know. I have a fistula and I use paper tape the other tape takes my skin off.

Are you allergic to latex?
Are you allergic to any of the various creams and disinfectants used on your access?

Since the first day I used my fistula, I've had the same problem. They ruled out being allergic to the tape or betadine. My neph seems to think that there is a nerve involed. It doesn't happen each day but when it does it is maddening!!

I am wondering if it is from the emla cream, I have buttonholes but still use the cream, I tried it without wont do that again the blunts still hurt.

No, not alergic to any of that. I think your right though it might be the paper tape causing it to itch. When I had my catheter the dressing they used also made my skin itch. I think I just have very sincative skin.

Paper tape drove me nuts with itching. I finally switched to gauze bandages that wrapped all the way round the arm, sticking only to itself. We had three choices of tape and bandaids or two other types of bandages for the end of D. I had to use the tape of course during the sessions.

I have the same problem. I have a fistula and use the emla cream with my buttonholes. I think it is the emla cream but not positive.
