Does anyone have any information on the prevalence of sleep apnea of persons with Chronic Kidney Failure?

I only know anecdotally that dialysis patients are often overweight for various reasons, and that the chances of apnea are higher if you are overweight.

Hi Everlasting. Hubby has developed apnea and now uses a CPAP at night. This began about a year ago after being on dialysis for about a year. Our neph said that apnea is pretty common in kidney patients.
Though it took a while to get used to the sounds of the CPAP, I am glad he has it now...I don't wear earplugs anymore! :clap;

My Neph told me that he has seen it in a lot of his patients, Before I was in complete failure he sent me to have the sleep study, thinking I had it but turns out my sleep issues were a direct result of my poor function! I sleep a lot better now on dialysis

I've been on Dialysis for six years and spent the last three with chronic sleep apnea. Keep in mind, I'm very thin, around 125 lbs., so sometimes its a fallacy that its only larger people who suffer from apnea.
I would recommend doing a sleep study at a local sleep clinic to find out whether you're suffering from apnea or not.
It took quite some time to get used to the mask (I would remove it in the middle of the night due to claustrophobia) but once my body learned to adjust, I get seven to eight hours a night.
Its rough enough to endure Dialysis. Do what you can to avoid sleep deprivation. Trust me, its not pretty.
