We are back online! - missed you: Victor (with CKF) and Everlasting, (advocate).
After meeting unsurmontable obstacles in a search for a compatible donor Victor will be heading for Mexico for stem cell therapy. Has anyone given it a try?
My (Everlasting) brother has just returned home after the stem cell approach to a rare type of muscular dystrophy (Becker's Muscular Dystrophy). He left the province on his hands and knees when tackling stairs and now only two weeks later post stem cell therapy, he is walking unaided!! We are in awe and can only hope that my brother's experience will be Victor's good fortune....will keep you posted.

Sorry didn't you post a nearly identical thread a week or two ago?
I have to say while I think it's great about your brother however I am skeptical that this would work so well for kidney failure. Seems to me if it did at least SOME major western countries would be pushing its use more (as an alternative to spending $$$$$ on their health systems). While I do believe stem cells are the way to go and there is definitely much progress to be made in this area,I am not certain that anything meaningful has been achieved to date with kidneys. Still I wish your husband luck and will be interested in any progress, costs, what was involved etc. Right now it seems a little too good to be true to be honest..

Since stem cell therapy for kidney failure is unproven here in the States, I would strongly advise your brother to ask this clinic for data on safety and effectiveness of their treatment--especially safety.
Some forms of stem cell therapy have caused cancer in test subjects.
