I was just wondering what most of you do to help pass the long hours while on dialysis.
For me I use my iphone. I listen to Pandora for most of the time I am there. I like it because I can listen to whatever type of music I am in the mood for that day. I also like to play a game called Scramble on my iphone. I have always hated watching tv so I can't bring myself to watch TV while on Dialysis. Only time I watch it is when they show reruns of The Daily Show w/ Jon Stewart.
Sometimes I take my mini DVD player. I have watched The Sound of Music like 8 times already lol. It's a very long movie so by the time it's over it's time to go! :2thumbsup;

Lots and lots of crossword puzzles.
Sometimes I'll read a good book.
But I often take naps too.

The last few weeks I've been indulged with them sending me good looking young female medical students to practice taking histories.... mmm yeah, that's pretty tough. The only problem is when they take my BP I'm caught out......
:rofl;

I have started playing brain age on my daugher's nintnedo DS. It's super fun. The game has all sorts of brain teasers and suduko. I try to read novels. I sometimes bring the portable DVD player.
When I had the permacath I could do a lot more. I did cross stitch and last year I even did my christmas cards. I find it very hard to sit still so I always bring two or three things to keep my mind occupied.

omg Richard that is too funny (-:
CybeR it is too bad you do not like TV....I have never been a big TV watcher, but now I am glued to it at dialysis.....Family Feud, Oprah and The King of Queens all in a row. Things I never thought I would choose to watch!
I also read books, magazines and talk on the phone a lot...hopefully it does not bother my "neighbors" too much. I carry a giany bag with all this stuff to keep me occupied and I am only on for 3 hours!
There was one person in my unit who was studying for a degree, studied the entire time, even took a on-line class while on the machine. I wish I could be that focused!

I usually sleep or play on my computer (we have wireless access). Today I brought a movie for the first time and it seemed to make the time go even quicker.

I joined Netflix so I always have a movie with me for my portable DVD player. I also have an Ipod touch that I have music on it as well as game apps. Sometimes I read and sometimes I nap. I do occassionally watch TV, but we have one TV for 2 people and I always have my cell phone. I try to stay busy.

What books do you guys read? I so far on dialysis have reread a few books. 1984, Animal Farm, and last one I just read was End The Fed by Ron Paul. Last one by the way is a must read if you want to understand our current economic dilemmas.
For those of you that take DVD players. Watch Sound of Music again. Can't get enough of that movie!

LOL I can't!!!! I hate TV too much. It's not for me. I rather spend my time reading or listening to music. TV numbs the mind! Stay away!

I don't have an iPhone. I don't believe in Mac products and I don't believe in cellphones. I do nave a DVD player and I get Netflix. I copy the movies the minute I get them and send'em back. I mostly listen to audiobooks on my mp3 player. I download the Audio books from newsgroups. I was trying to read at dialysis, but reading one handed for me is near impossible. thus the audiobooks. I went without a TV at my station for 3 months and I was moved to a station with a TV. I had made adjustments to my dialysis entertainment enough that a TV didn't make that much difference to me. Now because somebody else's TV doesn't work they asked me if I would mind if I were to be moved to another chair. I said I wouldn't mind, but I've been playing games on the computer while I listen to the audiobooks and the time has just been zooming by. I'm hoping that I don't miss the games. Oh well.

I just read "Finding Darwin's God" by Ken Miller.

LOL Cyber....see it took me 5 days to see your reply to me because I was watching TV! Just kidding.
I actually am not a big TV watcher, I even went 2 years without one once. Then dialysis ruined me!
You are right though, it is so mind numbing....I went to a bookfest last weekend and vowed to read more at dialysis...we'll see.
Well, off to watch Top Chef (-;
