Hello everyone, sorry its been so long since Ive been on here. Ive been really busy with work and well just life pretty much. I have switched to CAPD since I was here last, and I actually just recently switched to CCPD. I have only been using the cycler (CCPD) for about 3 weeks and I already think I could possibly have perotinitis. I am not sure yet I have to go see my Dr. but I know my own body and Im pretty sure something just aint right. If it turns out that I have perotinitis I will most likely quit using the cycler and go back to good ol' CAPD. I had been doing so good on CAPD too, I just thought it would be easier for me to use the cycler because I work and the cycler can be done at night when I sleep, it sounded more convienient ro me but may prove not to be so. I am gonna call and schedule an appointment with my nephrologist today and then when I get back my lab results I will let everyone know the verdict..lol...well I guess thats all, I hope everyone is doing good and I hope everyone has a beautiful day. :grouphug;

Hi Dana Renee, nice to meet you. I know what you mean about CAPD and the cycler. My husband was doing really well with CAPD until he was pushed into having the cycler. Neither of us liked it. He had a bad peritonitis on holiday which accumilated into having his tube out. Three months down the line he has had a new tube in and has told the nurse he will not be going back on the cycler, no way. We are lucky we are both retired and have all day to do the CAPD.

I think thats what Im going to tell my nephrologist, becuase I was doing fine on CAPD until I got the cycler. My Dr. is pretty understanding and Im pretty adamant about doing things my way..lol...so Im sure he will be ok with me no longer wanting the cycler. It just seems like theres so much more steps and risks with the cycler. CAPD is so easy and the hooking up process is so quick you hardly have much time to get infection. Also when I started CAPD they gave me drain bags as well as drain tubes, they told me to run the drain tube from my machine to the toilet and tape it there so that the drainage would go right down the toilet, did they tell your husband this also. I believe if I do have perotinitis this may be why.
