Title: Tasty Drinks
Post by: ryosaki on October 14, 2009, 07:34:12 AM
Ever since I have started Dia I have been obsessed with different drinks. I figured, if I can't drink that much, what I do drink might aswell be tasty!! I find myself standing infront of the drink stands for ages trying to figure out what I wanna drink. Haha....Boy do energy drinks look tasty!! but I know I have to stay away from them....does anyone have a suggestion? What are your favorite drinks? home made or bought...please, feed my obsession!! haha.

I actually understand this very well!!! I too try new or different things when I can (keeping in mind the potential contents - as you say energy drinks are bad mkay!). In recent weeks I've been to an asian store near where I work where they have imported drinks from different parts of asia. The other day I tried a funny Japanese soft drink (odd in the way you open it even because it has this kind of gum ball thing in the neck that you push down with the lid - this is hard to explain - to drop into the drink and it reacts. Very cool bottle too). Anyway that was sweet lemonade kind of thing. I also was about to buy a bottle of the amusingly named "Poccari sweat"-a sort of sports drink - when I noticed the it has very high K - ooops stay away!!! I also bought a cool little can one day with lots of Japanese text and smiley faces... I thought oh this will be cool... it turned out to be concentrated apple juice!!!  :rofl;

Before my diet restrictions, I liked the Abali yogurt sodas. But for me now, they're too high in sodium, phosphorus, and potassium. :(

I mostly tend to drink iced tea these days. Occasionally I'll have a root beer (Barq's at least has no phosphorus).

I can't drink my fave anymore, diet coke.  I like diet Mt. Dew, but I find that I drink mostly water.  I don't have fluid restrictions right now, so I drink a ton of water, sorry I know that's not too exciting!

Thanks guys, I like the one where you mix it with lemonade. I like the asian drinks too. I like this drink called Buko juice, which is sweetend coconut water, I bring it home and put a dash of lemon juice and make sure it's ice cold. i don't know aboutthe phosphate content of it though. My bloods seem to be ok, and I drink it alot!! If your interested, you should try guyibano juice, really quenches your thirst because it's sour and sweet and the flavour stays in your mouth for a long time. I miss vanilla coke the most, i can't have that any more, oh and dr. pepper.

We like low-sodium soda water with fresh lime juice squeezed in.  No sugar.

Every so often - maybe once a month, maybe less frequently - I buy a Mexican Coke, the kind in a 12 oz glass bottle with real sugar. I bring it home and put it in the freezer until it's very cold. That's very refreshing.

You know I wonder if some of those US food import places might get in Pepsi Raw. It may be worth investigating.

There's a company called USA Foods here in Victoria, but they don't appear to stock it. Pity they have a lot of stuff!!!

I can't stand most diet drinks. I haven't tried anything with stevia yet, though.

Richard, I checked and it looks like Pepsi Raw is a UK product - the US version is Pepsi Natural. If you're looking for it in a US food market, you might have better luck looking for that name. I've never had either, but I'd like to try it, see if it's up to my picky cola standards ;). I much prefer Coke to Pepsi anyway.

Edit: I got to myself. I'm being bad tonight. I have a Super Big Gulp (44 oz) full of ice and Coke. And it's half an hour to midnight. Maybe I should use another 4.25% bag tonight.

Thanks for that. I might give them a call tomorrow and see if they have any plans to import Pepsi Natural :)
