While I have dreamed of again flying into Thiefrow, and the UK will be a stop on my next round the world ticket (oh I am planning away for when the time is right!!) alas I have been stuck in my own little city far away from old Blighty.
However yeah I'm a lover not a fighter.... so that wasn't a big stick.... it was a big... uh.... [ CENSORED ]

RM Thiefrow ??????????? Dont you mean Heathrow ? :rofl;
Haven't you heard that moniker?
I believe I read somewhere that more bags get stolen at Heathrow than anywhere else! LOL.
Still I miss the dear old girl. I know it fairly well having spent time in every teminal bar T5. Something very special(for me) about landing there, going to the Barclay's ATM in T1 to get some cash, walking back down to the tube station, catching the picidilly line into central London, changing at Oxford circus to Tottenham Court Road, going to a few select locations I like to visit when there, heading to my hotel of choice, etc etc...
ah London. When you tire of London you tire of life you know!!! :)
-
Never heard that one before .. :rofl; Believe it or not , i havent been to London ..well ive been through it ! and it was a dump ! Maybe just the tourist bits are nice ? and prices well dont get me started on that , everything down there is a rip off !

I'm not really an old bag.....although some days I feel like it, but its so hard to believed in this day and age how we can communicate with someone half way around the world!
I can't even imagine what its going to be like in even just 5 years from now!
I guess my comment really doesn't have too much to say regarding subject here, but it made me think how amazing it is to share our common bond with people all over the world!

I so agree Richard! A walk through Harrods food court, picking what theater to go to that night, eating chips at "Flames" at Victoria Station, ahhhh what a lovely city. :thumbup;

What was slightly disappointing about London to me was that they seemed to be hardly any Londoners on the streets. it was a bit TOO cosmopolitan for me as a first time visitor! I wanted to feel I was in London and hear London accents as I walked around! United Nations on every street!

You're right - London sometimes seems to be the UN - lots of imports from the West Indies, India, Pakistan etc. Remember the UK's national dish went from being fish and chips to some sort of curry at some point... still that's what it is all about isn't it? As long as everyone can get on well then who cares? (and yes I know there have been issues, specially in the north of England in recent years).
And yes KS.. it *is* expensive!!! Still now that the pound is going downhill about on par with my love life it makes things much more affordable for those visiting from the US, or Australia. Now, if only I could take advantage of it and be able to get over there!!!!
I do like going to other parts of the UK where life is less hectic and more charming. I have spent time in Birmingham, Cambridge, York, Lincolnshire and have enjoyed my visits very much. For an aussie there's something special about visiting the "mother country" every so often - even if they do make us go in the long passport queue!!!! :D

I'm amazed that so many people like London. I go there mostly when work takes me there, which is not frequent. Also about once a year I'll go to watch a ballet at the Royal Opera House. That's it.
Now Paris (for the Opéra) and Moscow (for the Bolshoi) are so much more attractive...

One year I did famously travel to London (many hours each way) for an 18 hour stay :) I went to Festival Hall to watch the LPO perform. It was awesome. I avoided a crapload of taxes by staying less than 24 hours! :rofl;
