Queensland’s beautiful Gold Coast will be home to the 17th World Transplant Games for eight days from August 22, 2009.

Opening Ceremony This Sunday 23rd August
 
The opening ceremony for the 17th World Transplant Games is on Sunday August 23, 3:30pm.

Open to the public and will feature key speakers Chris Klug, USA Olympian and Liver transplant recipient, debut of Games theme song composed by John Foreman – performed by Tania Doko, official government launch, special features and entertainment.

Thanks for the link. In the middle of all the day to day, we sometimes lose sight of the progress in medical science and simple power of human spirit.

I attended the 1992 Transplant Olympics in Los Angeles.  When I had my transplant.  It was fun.  Back then everyone had puffy cheeks and thick eye brows.  Classic signs of prednisone.

 :clap;  That's great Rerun. I am sure it was a lot of fun. Did you compete? 

At the moment all that I could compete in would be an eating competition!    :rofl; :rofl;    8)  I blame the Prednisone!
