So, I was out with a couple of friends tonight, and I got to thinking, whenever I get a new kidney (which will not be anytime soon, as I am in stage 4) I want to throw myself a Kick-Ass Kidney Kick Off party!!! Serve beer and apple juice in urine cups, use rolls of toilet paper instead of napkins, serve salad with kidney beans, kidney-shaped cake, and all the great foods that we as kidney patients have to limit. Hire a DJ with a great music collection and a fun personality and bent sense of humor. My friend said she'd even hire the best looking stripper and give me gobs full of $1's!!! Whoo-hoo!!!
What do you all think? What would you do for your own "Kick-Ass Kidney Kick Off" party? What sorts of favors, etc, would you have? Not only are you celebrating a HUGE milestone in your life, but, it would also be a fun chance to raise awareness at the same time. Any excuse for a party, right? ;D
:yahoo; :cheer: :beer1; :2thumbsup; :clap;

hmmm well the salad would probably be out for a post-tx party - at least in the initial stages, but it sounds like fun.
Sort of related but I do have some plans for that time if/when it happens:
1. Get a 2L bottle of chilled water from my fridge. Drink leisurely as much as I want. Enjoy then run to the bathroom!!! :rofl;
2. I have promised to take all the staff at my unit out to sunday lunch at my favourite Chinese restaurant. So that will be like 15 people.. expensive but it will be worth it. I intend to drink just one glass of Dom to celebrate with them :) Green tea and water the rest of the time.
3. I want to go around and purchase large bottles/drinks of all the stuff I crave... and drink till I want to burst
4. Pizza. Lots.
5. Bananas. Yes, please!
6. I am going to get back to travelling and meeting all my friends around the world and going out with them and ENJOYING IT!!!

Oh I forgot ice cream, custard, soup, noodles... oh and sex with beautiful women!!! :rofl;
Well that last one isn't really related to kidney failure and dialysis, but I want to fit that in somehow. :rofl; >:D :rofl;

I planted a tree in my garden. A Persian Ironwood for strength and endurance. It's my official 2nd kidney transplant commemorative tree and I hope that it will grow strong and sturdy and stay that way long long after I'm not here any more.
I used to have dinner parties at home during my 5 hour D runs many years ago. I'd cook a big dinner, hook up, we'd eat and I'd watch everyone clean up. Ahh those huge Nova Scotian kitchens.

gallons of ice tea
salt shakers --- lots of them -- maybe someone has a collection to display
watermelon baskets
give everyone their own pee holder and have them collect pee in it from like 9pm to 11pm
and the person with the most pee in the container wins ---- a big pitcher of lemonade
or a gallon of beer or something liquid related -
rent a porta - potty
pen the tail on the potty
give people a trail of toilet paper and draw a big commode and have people pin the trail of tp on the commode
decorate with knitting needles and tape and bandaides and fake blood

I would definitely drink lots and lots of needed water to supplement the new kidney. I will still somehow be on a diet (stay away from unhealthy items such as sodas and chips and salty foods because I still have high blood pressure to worry about)...but I would indulge in so many fruits and vegetables! OMG that would be heaven to do again. Oh, to dream is so wonderful... :grouphug;

Green tea and water the rest of the time.
My doctor told me green tea would be a no-no after a transplant because of the immunity boosting properties of it. It can't be that strong, can it? Green tea is my favorite beverage!! :(
-
Never heard that about green tea and I drank a lot during my first transplant.
-
That's good to hear because I think I would seriously have withdrawal symptoms if I could no longer drink it!
-
I was told no pomegranate or grapefruit to drink, that's it.
