Dear DDD families and patients,
We will be having a DDD family conference on Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 9am-noon, if there is enough interested persons. If you are interested in coming to the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. for an update on DDD research, information about the disease, treatments that are being developed, current medications, clinical issues of the disease, transplant questions specific to DDD, to have blood drawn for genetic and complement related studies and to meet other families dealing with the disease.
Please let me know by this Friday, July 24. If you have specific questions that you would like to address, please let us know. We are learning a great deal about the disease and it is impossible to share that in an e-mail due to the disease complexity or to answer all the questions you might have. We have found face to face meetings the best way to share information.
We just returned from a visit to England where we met with DDD families. It was very helpful for all of us to meet others in the same situation.
If you are interested in attending, please let me know. By car, Iowa City is located 3.5 hours west of Chicago, 4 hours south of Minneapolis and 4 hours north of Kansas City...as rough reference points. If you fly in, the closests airport are Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids (20 minutes from Iowa City) Moline, IL- 50 minutes from Iowa City.
Please let us know of your interest by Friday, July 24.
Sincerely,
Lynne
