Title: Trouble in Fisutla Land...
Post by: maritza0486 on July 16, 2009, 06:23:25 PM
 :(Well...I have had my AV Fistula for 3 1/2 months at this point. It is my third one in 5 years. The first one lasted me almost a year and stopped working. Luckily at that time I did not need dialysis and went straight to a transplant. The second one was done a month before this current one but that one stopped working in a matter of 3 weeks. The scar has yet to fully heal. So now I have 3 scars on my arms. One on my lef arm, by my wrist, one on my right arm a little farther from my wrist, and the third and current one closer to the elbow area. I spoke to my surgeon today and he wants to see me tomorrow.
Now, last week on Wednesday, I went to an Access Center in the Bronx and my fistula was "ballooned" since it is taking such a long time to fully develop/mature. The surgeon felt that the decreased flow in my fistula could be due to the "ballooning". Makes sense but at least there is still some kind of flow occuring. I hope it can be saved because I could not stand to have to do a 4th one. My arms are already in movement and pretty much healed and most importantly, not really in pain. I guess in the end, regardless of what happens, I will do whatever I must do to have my life saved. I do not want to leave this world just yet. I am only 23 and have so many plans and goals for my future. I have an Associates Degree and am going for my Bachelor's Degree. I want to be an elementary school teacher because I have this really great love for children and really hope to have at least one someday. I am a good girl. I do not drink or smoke or hang with bad influences. I do not go to clubs or bars or lounges or anything like that to party. I am a homebody. I like to read, listen to music, spend time with my family, and just enjoy my life as that. I start school at the end of August and hope all goes well before then. I know I am suddenly blabbing about such nonsense but we all know it is hard not to do so when so much is at stake.
Anyway, I will let you guys know what the deal is tomorrow after I speak with my surgeon and he sees my fistula face-to-face...or shall I say, face-to-arm (LOL). So, I hope you all have a blessed night and a wonderful weekend in case I do not post anything else from this point on. Thanks for reading.  :pics;

Ok so I woke up this morning and miraculously my fistula was working strong. I was so happy but I went to see my surgeon anyway and he said it looked good but does not want my fistula "ballooned" anymore. I am so happy. Anyway, I do not live in the Bronx but I go there as far as hospitals go. I do not watch sports either so I am neither a yankees fan nor a mets fan but for good news...my dad is a Mets fan. :2thumbsup; Thanks for the support guys. I truly appreciate it so very much.  :thx;
