Title: Three surgeries in three weeks!

Two weeks ago, I had minor surgery on my back to remove a large cyst that had become infected.

Last week, I had surgery on my bladder (similar to TURP but not quite)--and I've been peeing bloody urine ever since.

And tomorrow, I'm having surgery to put in a fistula in my upper left arm.  (The first fistula on my lower arm failed.)

I could sure use some encouragement.  After tomorrow, I will have had a total of seven surgeries in nine months, including two fistula surgeries, a bladder surgery and a prostate surgery.

Anybody willing to give me an electronic hug for encouragement will be most appreciated!

Sometimes life just isn't fair! Stay calm and try to be positive. This will soon be over and you will feel better.

Sorry to hear about all the surgeries in quick succession, but on the bright side, lucky it's not during the Christmas season or you would get a partridge in a pear tree t, 7 birds a laying to boot.

Several big hugs to you - I know exactly what it's like - every time you turn around you find yourself recovering from something. Hang in there and (hopefully) sooner than you think it'll just be a memory...

I think I got that this afternoon:

Just one hour after I got home from the hospital for my fistula surgery, the fistula incision exploded!  A high-velocity stream of blood started squirting out of there.  So I had to run right back to the hospital--the Emergency Room this time.  My pants, my shoes, the carpeting in my apartment, the carpeting in the hallway, the stairs, the seat of the car, are all covered with my blood.  There was so much blood in the hallway that neighbors came knocking on my apartment door to find out what happened.

I'll probably have to compensate the management of my apartment building for all the damage I caused today.

So the E.R. stanched the bleeding, closed the wound again, and here I am, back in my apartment again.  The E.R. doctor thinks that there was a leak between two of the sutures. 

My heart sank.  I'm just heartsick right now.

Is this what I have to look forward to from now on?  Surgeries, E.R. visits, crises without end?

Sorry RightSide, you sound like what I use to go through with diabetes and dialysis. Bad when the hospital knows you by name and you almost have a speed pass to get in. Hopefully it will get better.

Thanks for the hugs.

But I'm no longer discouraged.  Now I'm outraged:

I now have evidence that not only did my surgeon screw up my fistula operation (and that's why it blew up)--but that his department has tried to cover up his mistake and lie about it in writing.

Starting tomorrow, I'm going to contact an attorney and institute malpractice proceedings.  I am also going to contact the Medical Board.  Covering up a surgical error is inexcusable.
