It started badly, went into the unit on Monday night to be told one of our shift who had been ill for the last couple of weeks had died. Then a couple of hours in a patient on dialysis went very quite and her alarms started, nurses, a doctor and the crash team appeared but after 20 minutes of intensive action we now have another spare space.
Wednesday evening started very subdued then at about 1.00am the Transplant Co-ordinator appeared on the unit, please let it be me! but no she started talking to someone else and began to take bloods from him. A nurse then told me two kidneys where available and another person on the unit was going to be lucky but she would not tell me who.
It took the Co-ordinator about 15 minutes to sort out the first patient, where would she go next, please let it be me. ah shit! its the patient over in the corner.
So there you go the balance of the universe is maintained two pass on and two will probably go on back to a normal life, but the feelings of jealously are embarrassing even though one recipient had been on the list for 9 years.
One good thing was both recipient's are blood type B neg. as am I and only 3-5% of the UK population so I guess I might have moved closer to getting my life back.
Lets hope next week settles back to being boring.

Even though this story is happy & sad, that particular line made me cry. I've felt that so many times and not just having to do with CKD. Well put, though.
Well, congratulations for "moving up" on the "the list". :clap; I hope the next call is just for you. :)

I think you are just human to feel jealous. We all would. Hopefully your turn will come sooner than you think.
