Title: Totally fed up!!
Post by: KICKSTART on June 18, 2009, 11:20:14 AM
Well i dont know if you missed me yesterday or found it quiet  :rofl; I ended up going into the renal dept to get checked over , my BP was in my boots again !!! Im so fed up right now , i ve managed to pull myself out of the mire of friends turning their backs etc and now i havent the bloody energy to make a cup of tea ! As expected the doctor is thrilled my bp is so low now, but did say i was also dehydrated, so try and balance the two. He has told me its going to take quite a while for my body to adjust to my new bp , ok fair enough. But i hate the struggle im having right now, everything even the smallest task is such hard work , i shake just making a cup of tea and going out the house ..well i ve tried and turned back i feel so weak/shakey and dizzy . I told the doctor all this, but lets face it as long as the results are coming in who cares about the practical day to day stuff you have to do. Im soooooo ashamed of the state of my house right now and i certainly dont want anyone to see it like it is. Ive tried to set myself little tasks but im beyond that right now. Oh and guess what ..my support group meeting was tonight and i was so looking forward to going!

I am so sorry you are going through this.  I went through dehydration a month ago and before I knew what it was, I assumed it was because I was not getting enough dialysis on the cycler and told them I would go back to four manual exchanges a day if they would just make me feel better!

I am off my b/p meds and have just recently got it back up to close to 110/80.  I hated the dizziness and weakness.  Couldn't bend over to pick up anything off the floor without the whole room swaying.  This is not good for a stay at home mom - or anyone for that matter.

I hope you start to feel better really soon!!

Poor Kickstart...

I'm really sorry this is happening to you... You were a goodsend to me when I was worried about Mum... My mum's BP is in her her boots, and I fully realise the fatigue, and general feeling of lethargy involved!...

Mum says try to forget about the house... It'll be there after you, and I've never met anyone who says that they regret not having spent more of their lives cleaning!...

Right now, unless the house is an enviornmental health hazzard (If so, I'll send around the decontamination guys!), sit back, rest up, and take care of YOURSELF first!...  A thermos flask could help with the fluids... While making one cup of tea, another couple could be stowed away to enjoy later...

Take care...

 :grouphug; :grouphug; :grouphug;

Darth...

P.S... I describe an 'Enviornmental Hazzard' as having atr least a couple of dozen very exotic bacteria waving at you... If you can prounounce, let alone spell it, it can wait for another while for you to feel better!... :rofl;

don't worry about the state of your house
do what you can do and forget the rest
I know how it feels to be without energy
don't push yourself

Hi Kickstart,  I can so relate to your bp issues right now.  This past week, mine are in the 80/50 to 70/40 range and I don't even want to wake up.  Then, today I realized that I am not eating. It takes too much effert. I get dizzy and feel faint everytime I stand up and just don't want to move. I try once a day to post something so someone knows I am still alive!!  It is a vicious cycle -- low bp, don't eat or drink --- I got to figure out how to get a grip on this.   I am sorry you are feeling bad, especially when things were looking brighter for you.  We'll get through this, too.  Won't we??    :cuddle;

Paris, that's not good.  I know your issue isn't the same as mine was (low bp when I first started dialysis) but can you at least get down some regular sodium chicken broth.  That's the one thing my internist and nephrologist agreed on.  Can we do anything for you?

That blood pressure medicine sounds like it has lowered your BP too much. How long does your doctor think it will take your body to adjust? I hope soon so you can feel better. In the mean time, forget about the house work.

Kickstart, because of your original post, I have been thinking what have I done so different that I feel so bad?  (other than the infusions).   I realized I haven't been eating or drinking!  I get a drink when I get up. It is 5pm before I think "maybe I am hungry" .  I'm not and it is too much trouble to try to get up to make something. For the past 6 days, I haven't had anything until around 8 and then maybe a bowl of soup.  So, because of your post, today I am making an effort to eat.  I think I really need protein, so an egg and a little cheese.  I am keeping water beside me. I didn't think about dehydration until your post.   I am alone most of the time right now, and it is hard to remember to take care of yourself when you don't even want to move.  OK friend, we have to take care of each other and get some strength back!    Our houses probably look the same right now!  Everyday I think about what needs done --- and it looks the same today as it did yesterday.  Oh well.  Tomorrow is another day.

I know what you mean, Paris.  I'm not on dialysis, but I often forget to eat. Then I wonder why I'm dizzy when I stand up!  DUH!!

I'm absolutely militant when it comes to Leslie.  She's diabetic, so I stay on her about eating, what she eats, etc.  I fix her meals and make sure she's okay, but often forget about me!  (For some reason, I can't eat anything I've cooked right away.  I'll eat it the next day as leftovers....I guess I'm a little OCD in that respect!)

I've found it's helpful to "force" myself to eat, even if it's just a little.  Kinda gets my system going, and then later I find myself starving!!

PS:  my house is a wreck, too!  I would die if anyone saw it!

Paris , yes its easy to get in a vicious circle , you dont eat because you are too tired , your tired because you dont eat!!  That seems to be my motto at the moment ..Tomorrow  , i will do it tomorrow!!!

Hi Kickstart,

Just a question; how often do you take your BP meds?  I take 12.5 mg Metoprolol at night before bed and am supposed to take 160 mgs of Diovan in the morning.  However one of the first things I do after waking up is to take my BP.  If my blood pressure isn't above 110/70, I delay taking my Diovan.  I'll recheck it later and if it's come up to a more reasonable level after eating something for breakfast, I will take the Diovan.  But there have been days when maybe I've taken more fluid off the night before and my BP has remained low enough all day that I don't take the additional medication.  If I took the Diovan when my blood pressure was that low already, I wouldn't be able to stand up I'd be so light headed.  I know you're told never to skip a dose but I don't think the doctors know just how awful you can feel if your BP drops out of sight.  I do make good notes on my flow sheets that I take in for my monthly appointments and I point out how many times I've had to skip my BP med dose during the month.  By having the record in front of them of my actual BP's, especially on the days it was so low, my doctors have lowered some of my medications or changed the time of day that I took them.  Little changes like that can make a world of difference.  Dialysis is enough of a challenge without having to feel like crap all of the time too!

lol....I kept my end of the bargain, too.  I ate about 1/2 cup of rice pudding!  For me, that's a miracle because I rarely eat in the mornings.  I won't eat lunch, but I promise to eat supper.

I too have low BPs when I get off of Dialysis.  I take lysenopril. It works! I was taking something else (I can't remember, I want to say Lantis but I take so many medications) Anyway, since I started taking lysenopril My BPs have been good except after dialysis, and then they were 90/56, 99/52, after dialysis etc.. I take all of my medicines at 8 pm; the night before dialysis, I don't take the blood pressure medicines. It was kinda' hard for me to remember to not take the lysenopril the night before the big D, but after a few times of forgetting, I remember! NOW, my exiting BP is 136/94 or there abouts. Bp meds aren't just "take the meds and Boom!, lower BP. they. through taking them on a schedule, maintain a level. I think that rather than get mad about low BP, figure out what you can do about the problem :bandance; Good luck!

Not time for supper yet!  However, I did eat lunch.  Not much, mind you, but it was food and I was actually feeling kinda hungry.  I ate a grapefruit, a small slice of cheese, and 3 pieces of pineapple.

Mashed potatoes and beef stew sound GOOD!

We're doing good so far!   :bandance;
