Does anyone know whether eating beetroot is good for you or bad for you, either
a) before dialysis
b) during dialysis
c) after transplant?
I am asking because I love to eat fresh boiled beetroot in a salad and I have conflicting reports.
I am aware that boiling greens in plenty of water takes out the potassium and I wonder whether,
if there is potassium in beetroot, the boiling of beetroots takes out the potassium as well?
Thank you.

Beets are high in potassium, about the same pound-for-pound as carrots, and about 30% less than potatoes. Boiling peeled beets in plenty of water will remove some of the potassium - more if the beets are cut into small pieces. Beets boiled whole with the skin on don't lose very much potassium.

Thanks, Restorer, for your information,
I shall try that out and take care and
watch my potassium levels.
Thanks again, Kristina.

I know it is dangerous for a diabetic and it is listed as high or very high in potassium...
