POSTED: 11:28 am CDT June 10, 2009
OMAHA, Neb. -- A man lost control of his car and hit a house Wednesday morning, the second time the driver has hit the house in two days.
Witnesses said the driver, John Mika, hit a curb while taking a corner near 41st Avenue and P Street. His Chevrolet Lumina flipped and came to rest on its top next to the house. The house sustained a broken window.
On Monday, Mika lost control and hit the same house's garage, causing $10,000 in damages. Police pulled Mika's license after the Monday accident, which they said was a hit and run.
The homeowners know Mika and his caretaker, who live nearby.
Mika's caretaker said he is undergoing dialysis treatment as a result of a kidney transplant. They said he was on his way home from such a treatment when he crashed Wednesday.
Mika, who is in his 60s, is a retired priest, his caretaker said.
