I do paid blogging and one of my assignments this week was to check out nutrisystem and make a video. It looks pretty interesting.. and if I win the video contest I get a free months worth of nutrisystem food. So, my question is.. has anyone tried nutrisystem and are the foods safe for ESRD patients? Seems like if it's all packaged food it would have a ton of phosphorous in it.. so I'm a little iffy about it.
Anyways, if you want to check out the video we made, you can do so at http://yournextdisaster.sweet-catastrophe.com/

I know that they have a diabetic line but I too had wondered about renal diet. Hope you find out. I'd sure buy some ready made meals.

Oftentimes the worst part of prepackaged food for ESRF patients is the sodium. It is usually loaded.
Aleta

High sodium would be my guess, as well. That's why my doctor said "no" to any diet group other than Weight Watchers pre and post transplant.
Good luck with your blog.

The greater majority of the "meat" they use is soy based, hence higher in potassium. It's fair to medium sodium. I don't recall there being an overabundance of cheese on things, but many of their pasta dishes are loaded with tomato, more potassium. It really isn't all that renal friendly.

There is packaged food for renal patients available here in California. I have not tried it yet, but can get info on it.
-
The sodium I would think would be bad, but maybe not. You never know. And I would think that if the portions are the right size and that is all you eat. You would be safe of some of the other stuff. Just a thought.
Oh and I love that song! Mika is great, in fact I was listening to lollipop when I watched your video. Haha.

I emailed them once to ask if their meals would be ok for a renal patient. They said no.
