I have been experiencing chest pain. It's a dull but nagging pain. It usually occurs either during or after my treatments. Sometimes, it only lasts a couple of minutes.I occasionally have back pain with the chest pain. It's not overwhelming just enough to make me uncomfortable. I take verapamil for my BP and it relieves the pain. I have an appointment with a cardiologist on the 14th. My nephrologist thinks it may be heart spasm. Any thoughts? :thx;

Sorry,I don't have any answers for you.I have had some cardiac problems myself but don't seem to share any of your symptoms.I think that you absolutely are doing the right thing by seeing the cardiologist though and what I can suggest is this-Since it happens to you when you are on dialysis,you could make your cardiologists job a little easier by keeping a little log of when it happens,how you would rate the pain(on a 1-10 scale),and what your heart rate(pulse)is while its happening and when it stops.Good luck and keep us posted on what the dr. says.

How is your potassium? When my potassium gets low and sometimes my magnesium my chest gets really tight. Its very uncomfortable and I get out of breath. Maybe they are removing to much fluids. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Happy, thanks for the the advice. I'll keep a log as you've suggested. Manda, my potassium is good. I have noticed the more fluid removed the more likely I am to experience the pain. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.
Update: My appt. with the cardiologist has been rescheduled for 6/2. I'm having my cath surgery on the 14th. I'll let you know how it goes.
