:Kit n Stik; Starting my 4th month of dialysis and boy do I feel beat up! 51 year old male, started dialysis in November of 2008 but it seems like its been much longer. Have kept my full time job and do 5 hours on the machine 3 days a week. What a chore! Disability may be an option I have to consider although I hate the idea of giving up my job. So far my employer has been very supportive but I am sure that the amount of time I have missed is annoying and disruptive. I do enjoy reading all the posts in this forum. Lots of people going through the same things I am, and doing it successfully! Fistula in a week. No rants yet about my dialysis center. Very good staff there.

Bub, keep your job, but go ahead and look into disability. Are you eligible for a transplant? If that is an option then keep you job because if you get a transplant you get "kicked" off disability 12 months after a transplant. Hang in there.

I am on my 4th year of dialysis and I had to stop teaching after two years -- it was too much---- I miss my job and life is not the same without it--
I had four hours of dialysis M<W<F and got home about 10pm and had to be a work at 7am --- junior/ high school teacher
I would love to go back to work- work as long as you can -

G'day mate.
:welcomesign; to the club. We all understand how you feel.
If you can mate, keep on working, it is the only way you can keep sane.
Not sure what about where you are, the income is better if you are working rather than on disability.
Hope your feeling better soon
