When my husband went on dialysis I found the whole food/diet thing overwhelming. There are a bunch of helpful resources here on IHD and also on the web that give the nutritional content of foods. I ended up making lists of the things we commonly eat in units that I could work with when cooking. I just found the files today in the process of cleaning up some files on my computer. Maybe some of you will find them useful. They're attached below as a pdf. The tables list the food, portion size, calories, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, and protein content. I made tables for protein sources, fruits, veggies, bread, and some miscellaneous items we like.
Here is the main reference website for the data: http://www.ars.usda.gov/main/site_main.htm?modecode=12354500 where there are 1000s of foods listed. Most (all?) of the nutrition software is pulling from this database.

:thumbup; Thanks for this link. I downloaded the lists in both content and alpha version for all of the things we need to watch. This will really help me make daily and weekly menu plans.
