Woohoo! :yahoo;
I am soooo happy to read your message. Boatloads of pee. Peeing like a race horse. Whatever... It's all peefect. You go girl! ;D
Please give Ryan a million hugs from us when you see her. I remember that my husband's donor felt really bad on day 2 and maybe even on day 3 due to gas pains. The gas went right into his shoulder and hurt like hell. I felt terrible about it, but then by day 4 he was starting to feel better and it was only uphill from there.
Hoping to see some pictures!
:flower;

Have they started asking you every half hour if you've passed gas yet? "I'LL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I FART!" ;D FYI, it's important for you to poot! :waiting;

Adn Ryan way to go. A gift unlike any other.

such awesome news!!!
Your next task, should you choose to accept it is to get yourself a "pee picture" to rival tamara's.. sounds like you could even outdo hers!! LMAO...
We should setup a gallery of IHD transplantees with their pee (yes that sounds gross, but you all know what I mean! :) )
-
Well damn. Richard just said exactly everything I was going to say about the bag of pee photo!
Anyway, congrats Traci!! You keep on peein' girl!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
-
Absolutely great news, Traci!!! :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo; Please know that your happiness is our happiness. We are in this right there with you. So you just keep peeing. (Do an extra one for those IHDers who can't remember what is it like to pee!) Really very pleased with your report. Keep us updated, please. :cuddle;

Well, what a week it has been! It feels great to be home, but I am very tired. I had surgery Tuesday morning. They got me up (well they never let you sleep in a hospital really...) and we went about 8. I ran to see Ryan before she went down. I had to run, I knew I would miss her. I was out of breathe but caught her just as they wheeled her in. I told them who I was, and I don't think they would have believed me except for my hospital gown! I RAN they - wasn't I the patient who needed a kidney? Ha ha. Anyway, they put the iv in and in a few minutes wheeled me into the room. I saw the big surgery lights, nut he must have started the meds in my iv because I don't remember anything else. The surgery lasted two hours and we have some great pictures. Even of the kidney as it was being cleaned. I will post later. When I woke up I was back in my room and had some pain going on. I did use the pain button that afternoon until about 5 pm when I realized I really didn't need it and tried to see how far I could go without it. I didn't use it again until the next morning when they get you out of bed. That was painful and I didn't go far the first time, just around my bed. Later that afternoon I did walk the hallway. It kept getting easier. My back is killing me, the bed was always propped up, never flat. I felt like I was 6 months pregnant - now only 5. Lots of fluid was being pumped into me, AND I was drinking water like crazy. The first and second day I peed 7 liters. That is alot! They stopped pumping fluid and I started to feel better. I am happy to see the whites of my eyes cleared up and my skin has a red blush. I do feel better, at least on the way. My body feels like I have been run over by a truck. My husband has been adjusting me often thankfully. And my daughters gave me a back rub today. I will post pictures soon, give me a few days. We have great video too. Thank you also to those that emailed the hospital. When they brought in the messages, they said they have never seen someone have so many! You all are the BEST!!
-
:yahoo; Traci. You just take is easy and get some much needed rest. We will continue our thoughts and prayers for you and Ryan. We look forward to seeing your pictures and video. Now, drink, drink, drink and rest. Hope you get some good sleep in your own bed. :cuddle;
-
Wow! You must be superwoman. Out in only 4 days!? They wouldn't let Stephen out of bed for 3 days after his surgery. It's so great to hear that it all went well. Hugs to you and Ryan. :cheer: :bandance; :yahoo; :2thumbsup; :clap; :thumbup; :flower; :guitar: :beer1; :wine; :rudolph;

So glad you got the emails---thanks to our sweet Kelly! Of course you got tons, we all love you! Your post sounded great. Keep resting and drinking and post when you can. I am so very excited for you and grateful to Ryan. :cuddle;
-
Oh boy - can't wait for the photos! :pics;
You sound great and I hope each day is better than the last!
:cheer: Congrats!
-
Thanks for the update Traci - you sound great!!! I remember my legs felt like two sausages because they kept me pumped up with 10 extra pounds of fluid for 2 days - and it did feel good when they stopped. Happy you are home - the best thing you can do is to not overdo...but you will know when you do! Take a break, have your kids and Kelly do anything that involves lifting. I enjoyed the fact that I was not an "invalid" but remember that this is the time to take care of yourself - and have a little vacation from having to take care of others! Love and hugs to you and Ryan!!! :cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle;
-
Great news mate

Yes yes yes Traci. Good job all around and how wonderful that you're home. Soon you won't feel like a truck ran over you, you'll just feel like new again I hope.

Glad your home Traci and got the emails. Sorry I couldn't come up with anything funny on the two I sent, I tried. ;D But didn't want you to bust a stitch out for laughing either and then ohhh the pain from laughing.
Hope you feel 100% better soon.
-
I'm glad to hear you're home and doing well. I sure wish I could have been out on day four! When I think back, I was darn ready to leave on day four, five, and six! ;D
Did you get my card? I mailed it to the hospital on the 3rd.

congrats traci :yahoo;

His Majesty King Leon proclaims royal congratulations!

Feeling stronger today. Weather here is good so I have walked outside and just down the street and back. Hard to sleep last night, didn't sleep until almost 3 pm. Damn meds... Anyway I have a photo of the actual kidney I just got from one of the doctors. Sorry if it is too big... bot sure how to guage that yet. Help is appreciated. Ryan still has problem with BM, hasn't gone by herself yet. That has been her biggest complaint. I feel only 3 months pregnant now. Still have one JP drain line and that is the biggest PITA (pain in the a**). Should get that out Wed. My first labs are tomorrow and seeing the nephs.

:-) :thumbup;
Sorry Ryan is having a dilema. :-(
But glad your up and about and feeling better.
-
Sorry to hear about Ryan, hope she feels better soon.
Good Luck tomorrow, I'm sure the labs will be great. Yes the drains are a PITA, just glad they came out so easy on me. Just made me squeamish a little when they pulled on the tubing (to many Sci Fi movies maybe?).
-
Sorry to hear about Ryan, but I'm sure things will start happening soon! I'm glad you're doing so well. That is an absolutely beautiful photo too!!
-
:flower; :flower; :clap; :clap; So happy for you!!
-
That is a truly gorgeous kidney! :flower;
P.S. hope things start moving along for Ryan very soon!
-
:flower; That is a beauty Traci! I am thrilled for you! :flower;
:2thumbsup; I know you will feel reallly good, but don't over do it. My transplant team was really on me about that because they said I was very vulnerable to getting a hernia. :2thumbsup;
-
My donor "fibbed" and said she had a bowel movement when she really didn't and they let her go home (yes, she regrets doing that). However, she started walking really slow on her treadmil and that seemed to get things moving. She was passing gas the day after surgery which usually means things are progressing in the bowels, but she ended up moving her bowels really well after walking. Really slow!!!!

Love that beautiful healthy looking kidney. Fabulous!!!
