I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have been on PD since the middle of October and after a few weeks my feet and ankles began to swell. The PD nurse has explained in detail how to control this with the strength of the solution and monitoring weight and blood pressure, however my weight is the same and blood pressure low. The next step was I talked to my nephrologist and he did not seem concerned but prescribed a water pill. I work on the second floor and the restrooms are located on the first floor. I am now getting a lot of exercise running up and down the steps but my feet and ankles are still swollen. When I wake up each morning they are normal but by 10:00 they are swollen. By this time each day all I have had to drink is the sip of water i take with my medications so I do not see how it could be too much fluid. They are not a little swollen they are very swollen.
Now here is the strange part. On the weekends they do not swell. Has anyone had a similar problem?

dh514, I'd be willing to bet that on the weekends you are not going up and down stairs all day to use the restroom? Gravity works against you during the day and the fluid settles in your ankles and feet. Any chance that you could put your feet up for a few minutes at work? At night your body is obsorbing the fluid and redistributing in other place and I'm guessing that you do PD at night? Correct me if I am wrong, but I'd try and get my feet up some during the day, somehow. Good luck and keep us posted. :cuddle;

hummm, maybe your dry weight is wrong and you have too much extra fluid?

You need to put your feet up. This is one reason I had to quit work. I could not sit or stand 8 hours a day. My ankles turned into Cankles (calves all the way down). You could try a stronger solution PD bad just to see how much fluid it does pull off.

Cankles would describe it accurately. I will try putting my feet up and see if that will help. I guess my real question is since my nephrologist did not seem concerned should I be?

Anything that concerns you, should concern the neph! Make it his concern.
