Title: Huge snow storm cancels dialysis
Post by: Rerun on December 19, 2008, 12:11:37 PM
We got 20+ inches of snow in 24 hours.  They cancelled dialysis last night and are supposed to have it tonight.  I've dug out my car but there is still no way I can get out.  I cancelled my bus for last night and I'm too late to order one for tonight.  The nice neighbor upstairs has a jeep 4-wheel drive and said he would take me and pick me up at 5 in the morning.  Bless his heart.  I hate living in the northwest!  You need a fricken' dog sled to go anywhere.

I have my chains spread out in the living room trying to figure how the hell to put them on once I'm outside in the snow.  I've called Les Schawb twice asking questions and they must have caller ID because they won't pick-up any more.   ;D  I guess I'll have to try another store.

Thank GOD I have power.  Thank God I have food.  The poor Donner Party froze to death!

Get your neighbor a nice Christmas gift or bake him some cookies!  That is so sweet!

Stay warm, Rerun!   If you hate snow, then you will love Texas (South Texas).  Come on down!!

I've got cookies baked (cut-out kind) and have invited his wife and little girl down to help decorate them.  They can take some home.  Tomorrow we are making Peanut Brittle out at my sisters.  I think I can get out by tomorrow.  They will get some of the coveted homemade penut brittle.  YUM!

Beware of the homemade peanut brittle!   I made some for the first time and my plan was to give it away as gifts!    I didn't realize how much I liked peanut brittle!!   You got it right, Rerun, YUM!!!!

I make THE BEST Hot sauce!!!  I give it as gifts, but we always eat most of it.  I used to give the hot sauce in a jar, a bag of chips in a cute bag to every one for Christmas when I was REALLY poor.  Now if I buy gifts, everyone still wants the Hot Sauce.

I'll give you some homemade peanut brittle if you give me hot sauce (better make it mild) and some chips!  Mmmmmmm!  Mmmmmmm!

Hey,
Im chillaxin in Des Moines, wa and thankfully only live about 8 minutes away from my center on a good day, and they are keeping pac-highway sufficiently cleared so I have made it to all of my runs so far! But since its dumping snow again today on this area, im just hoping to make it tomarrow!
Stay warm and dry and safe and not filled with fluid.

I agree, Traci!   ha ha   It was 49 here all day and I was cold!  Stayed in as much as possible!    We're so lucky!  I like to visit snow, but I don't want it around all winter long!  I can barely drive safe in the rain!  (which we need despirately BTW)

Sorry about the snow and dialysis Rerun, thank heavens for your nice neighbor, how wonderful he is.

We got hit with a double whopper, 2 snow storms in 2 days, ugh!  We have at least 24 inches and it hasn't stopped snowing since 8:00 am (it's now 9:31 pm).  I'm already sick of snow and it's only the first day of Winter.

And I think it is cold here!  Ha! Been wrapping presents for family out in the garage and had to put my vest on it was so cold. Bbrrr... Must be at least 51 outside!!!!!  (Yes I too live in south Texas!!)

51 in Winter is like a heat wave in New England.  Many of us don't wear coats in the 40's.

Funny enough I saw a lot of people in shorts here in San Antonio today.  Honestly though, if it hadn't been so windy it wouldn't have been bad at all.  I want to wear my new coat, but it just isn't cold enough for a coat, yet.  We just run from the house to the car and from the car to the store.   ::)
