HI!
My mom has ESRD and has been in dialysis since end of June 06. She also has multiple other issues, IE: 1oo% blocked arteries, and her aorta is completely diseased, and on and on!
Anyway, while in the hospital recently for CHF, she had some dots of blood after throwing up during dialysis and so the DR. ordered a upper GI and stomach, intestinal biopsy. That's how she was diagnosed with Celiac Disease.
It is interesting, because alot of the symptoms are renal disease symptoms like: weight loss, anemia, diarrhea, fatigue.
The Dr. wants her to have this fancy blood test to confirm the diagnosis, although if untreated, it could cause anemia and osteoporosis, she already has these things, and he doesn't seem to understand that or that her other medical issues are so much more important right now. The funny thing is (there are some funny things in life with my mother!) the diet that she will have to follow is wheat free! She already can't have wheat products!
Well, the whole reason for this post is to see if anyone else has this disease along with the renal disease?
I love this board, and have been comforted here so many times since June 22, 2006!
Thanks
Lisa
