I went to the clinic today, very excited about my new discovery of IHD.COM!!! I printed out the flyers, and passed them to all patients and staff members. One of my patients logged on while on treatment. (Yes, we have internet access for their laptops). Will be interesting to get everyones perspective. I told the staff I wanted them all to log on to at least read some of the blogs tonight. Everyone is VERY excited!!!

Bloody good for you :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup;
I reckon you need to come to the top end and work where Dad goes to D. You come across as positive and objective as well as compassionate and pro active.
The weather is beautiful - temp. 36 degrees c

Knowledge is POWER! Good for you for spreading the word!!! :bow;
-
Kellyt... I'm is San Antonio too :2thumbsup;
-
Yes, I know! I got a PM from Mike and he says he goes to the DaVita right near where I live (Starcrest/410). Is that where you are? I'll have to come up for a visit! I live just down Perrin Beitel sortof behind that center! Let me know! We'll plan a mini meeting! :2thumbsup;
I have made a plug to host 2009 IHD Meet and Greet! So far they seem to be on board! Wouldn't that be fabulous! Riverwalk! Fiesta Texas! Sea World! It will be a total blast!!!!!!!!!!
-
Kelly,
Yes, thats my clinic. Marymont. It's a good clinic, as clinics go. You're my neighbor. Come over, I'll take you to lunch!!!
-
What is your work schedule? That would be awesome! :clap;
-
I'm there M-F. I can come and go as I please for the most part, as long as staffing is OK. (meaning no one called in). Let me know. Give me a day notice. Would LOVE that :clap; :clap; :clap;
-
Nursewratchet, You will love Kelly! I would adopt her if I could! Well, I think I will anyway. She is sooo much fun! Take good care of our girl :cuddle; :cuddle;
-
You like me! You really like me!!! :-*
Paris is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
And I will schedule a lunch with you, Nursewratchet! Next week is crazy, as I have my 3rd IVIG treatment and my friend is scheduled for transplant on FRIDAY! Maybe the week after? Sound good? What day is good for you?
-
How funny, the quote from Sally Feild, I think. My whole life everyone says I look like Sally. Went through the Gidget stage, flying nun, now more likeMrs. Doubtfire ere... :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
Anyway, excited about the lunch. Tues. or Thurs.'s are slower, but any day is good. Week after next will be fine. Let me know. :bandance;

how awesome to get IHD friends to meet up like this... I can see a good friendship forming there :) that's neat
(oh and I would love kellyt too if there wasn't that ever so small problem of her being married... oh and in texas.. it's only 10,000 miles... lol) Kelly's awesome! :)

Just reading this post makes me smile. I love seeing the team get together. You're an absolute angel, nursewratchet!! xx
-
Wish I could go. I'd like to congratulate them both in person. Kelly on her transplant and nursewratchet on being good at her job which can make all the difference for those of us called patients. :flower;
-
nursewratchet, good for you. :clap; The clinic my husband went to wouldn't let me put up flyer's or tell other patients about IHD. I don't think one of them has ever bothered to check it out. Sad. :waving;
-
WOW! Why would they not? I have 120 patients in my clinic, all with issues to be discussed. They can't really talk to each other, due to the logistics of the machine, and chairs, and not facing each other. The tech's, nurses, and social workers can only do so much, and can only talk and listen so much. There is a MOUNTAIN of State,ESRD, and Medicare REQUIRED paperwork to make sure gets done. Not to mention the fact, no matter how much we want to listen and help, none of us are actually going through this stuff. Hats off to the positive patient, no matter what we have to do to assist with that. :bow; :bow; :bow; :bow;
-
nursewratchet, I have no idea with those folks. There was not one supportive nurse when we told them we we're going to do home hemo. Everything they said was negative and it really pissed me off. I made up my mind that I was going to be the best tech in the world for my husband. It was funny that this same clinic called me and wanted me to come work part time. Not a chance in hell I said. I applaud your efforts and I'm sure that your patients really appreciate everything you do. Wish there was more like you. :cuddle;

When I wear my IHD t shirt to dialysis it's funny the reactions. I've had everything from one nurse thinking I was making a statement that I hated them (as in the staff???!) and got all offended... to others laughing and calling me a "troublemaker" (in a fun way) to others asking if it was a real website (and I say yes yes yes and they don't look!).. My neph was amused though. He mentions it every time when I see him like "So how are you going? apart from hating dialysis which I know..." LOL.
So to make the staff feel better I got a special shirt made up that says "I hate dialysis but I love my dialysis unit!" hehehe. They like that one (plus it has a big smiley face on it!)

Oh yes! People you want to keep happy:
1) Anyone who has direct contact with your food
2) People who stick you with large needles
3) Spouses/Significant Others :)
In that order!!!

Kellyt, my husband and I have a deal: if we are in a restaurant, and don't like the food, we just keep our mouth shut. We don't pay for it, but we don't EVER send it back. Things may be "placed" in the food. :puke;
-
:2thumbsup;
-
Kelly, when we go to lunch, we will both LOVE it, no matter what it is. ;D
-
Where do you like to go normally?
-
My clinic is 410\Perrin Beitel area. Usually from work, I go to ChaCho's if I'm in a hurry, Chilis (Broadway) is good, Chinease on Perrin Beitel, forget the name????? Anything is good. Where do you like? :beer1;
-
Can't believe I only just saw this! I love to hear of IHD family meetings. Hurry up, you two!!! And PICTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (pretty please?)
-
Any of those places is good. Chili's is always a favorite, plus there's more choices. Or Martha's at Broadway. ??? My lab and IVIG treatment has been moved from tomorrow to Thursday. How about lunch on Monday the 15th? What time is good for you? I can come pick you up. That will give me a good reason to vacumme my truck!
As far as chinese on Perrin Beitel - you're not talking about the Golden Phoenix are you? We stopped going there years ago!!! They changed owners or management (or something) and it went to the pits! Is it good now? When we get chinese we usually go down to Thousand Oaks to the China Sea, but that's far and it's a buffet.
I look forward to lunch! We'll definitely take photos! :pics; Although, I'm not photo ready. My face is HUGE due to the Prednisone. But, hey, it matches my HUGE tummy!!! I'm miserable!!!!!
-
Any of those are good, I forgot about Martha. I love that place, I used to live around the corner, off of Broadway. Monday sounds fine. We can do pic's, but I won't lie and say I know how to post them. Not a gift of mine, I need to learn some techno stuff ;D
-
He'll kill me for telling you this nursewrachet but RichardMel is a techno wiz. Everytime I want to post a pic I send it to him and he resizes it for me and then sends it back. Thank God I have an agency designing and doing my magazine for me each week otherwise I would be in real trouble!!
-
WOW :bandance; good to know. I can muddle through all of my work stuff, but the other stuff, no way. Could he be my new freind?????
-
sure thing :)
we want pics of this lunch date.... :)
